Sailor by Cheyenne The Lighthouse: / Old and Beautiful, Tall and Bright as it guides my Sailor home in the night. / Dark and Stormy sea, / the Hurricane tosses, his Boat rocks, / water breaches it’s Deck. / My Sailor’s in trouble, / His Ship as it begins to sink. / All hope is lost, until.... / Until He sees Me, / My shadow cast out on the Stormy sea, / casting out miles away, / the powerful light within the Lighthouse, / guides my Sailor home again. / Safe and Sound, my True Love is found. / The Lighthouse stands Tall and True, perched on top a cliff, / Old and Beautiful. / A symbol of Our strong Love. / Faithful We are to It. / It’s faithfulness is forever to our Gratitude. This is a view of La Corbiere Light House in Jersey, CI, that I discovered for the first time this summer. This has become one of my favorites. I look forward to going again next year. I love seaside skies. They can be so romantic and sometimes mysterious, and the sound of the waves crashing upon the rocks or the much gentler shore line. Whilst on one of my regular trips to the lighthouse on Jersey, I decided to climb further down one of the steep cliffs overlooking the lighthouse, looking for a different view of the scene. I kept going down until I reached the rocks below. i saw this little inlet between the large rocks which make up the shore line, and decided to take photos of the incoming tide. little did I know just how quick it comes in. I got soaked, but thank goodness my camera was fine. I love this view though. It was worth it. I look forward to going down again to get another shot next year. Anyone who spends as much time on a Northeast coast beach as I do, knows that the light is different, the air is different and the ocean water is different in November, compared to the very hot sunny beaches of the summer season. The Stripped Bass begin to run south as the fishermen and gray storm clouds cover our beaches pretty regularly this time of year. On this day I captured this image just after we had a day of rain and it had stopped shortly before the sun dropped low to the horizon. This is an older image of mine that i always enjoyed but it was never as dramatic as you see here today. HDR software allowed me to give you a better feel of just what that day felt like on the beach. La Corbiere Light House, Jersey, CI stand as a beacon of warning to ships that pass by the treacherous waters. The light house is a great landmark and a tourist attraction. It is also, I believe, the best spot on the Island to watch the sun go down. La Corbiere will feature quite a few times in my space. Hope you will enjoy them. This was taken on a wonder around the rocky terrain that the lighthouse is built on. The way the rocks project out and in all directions creates for interesting landscape shots. I had to move quickly as the tide was on its way up. The poem above was written by a friend here on Redbubble, Cheyenne. Please do check out her profile.
