Approaching storm form Sedona, AZ…. Jerome State Park in the foreground. Just another shot of it as it marched across the valley.
Ok… had to include this one…. just has a different feel to it… to me anyhow. These approaching storms we have in Arizona are pretty amazing.
Just up the hill from our B & B we walked through an abandoned neighborhood of homes no longer safe to occupy. Years of blasting in the mine caused many of the these homes to slowly slide down the rocky slope. In Arizona.

Les Invalides in Paris, France consists of a complex of buildings in the 7th arrondissement containing museums and monuments, all relating to France’s military history, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans, the building’s original purpose. It is also the burial site for some of France’s war heroes. The most notable tomb at Les Invalides is that of Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) in the crypt under Mansart’s dome. Napoleon was initially interred on Saint Helena, but King Louis-Philippe arranged for his remains to be brought to St Jerome’s Chapel in Paris in 1840. A renovation of Les Invalides took many years, but in 1861 Napoleon was moved to the most prominent location under the dome at Les Invalides.

Like most of my art, all of my Native American art just comes to me. I never set out to paint any one thing in particular unless I am working on a commission piece. / Red Rock Spirit Guide is one that had to be painted. The original watercolor will be available at “http://www.jamespeele.com”
This was part of an old mining ghost town near Jerome, Arizona.
An artist’s studio in Jerome that is often used to promote the town caught my attention shortly after seeing “Independence Day” and the pink sky in the Mars photos. I altered my view to reflect that influence.
A nondescript pile of chain in a Jerome, Arizona barn caught my eye.

Old work trucks at the Gold King Mine Ghost Town, Jerome, Arizona. Pentax K20D / Pentax 18-250mm / FL 47.5 / 1/125 sec / F6.7 / ISO 800 / Shot in B&W / Raw-to-Jpeg (Unedited) I’m very surprised that this one came out! This was the only shot I did of this image & I forgot to change some settings from the previous shot I did. I was kinda in a hurry because they were closed and I know that they normally close & lock the gate. I didn’t use a tripod and shake reduction was turned off. I had it set to Sensitivity priority with Exposure compensation set to 0.5. I’m truly amazed that I…uhhhh…the camera…”Got it right!!!”
French kick boxer Jerome Le Banner expresses his confidence to the arena before a showdown with 205cm tall Dutch giant Semmy Schilt at K-1 in Fukuoka. After giving it his all in a very close fight he went on to lose the decision. On July 15, 1960 in Saskatoon Harry Jerome set the world record of 10.0 seconds in the 100 meters. Later that year he became the first man to share the world 100 yard and 100 meter records by running the 100 yards in 9.2 seconds, tying the world record. In November of 1962 he suffered a severe muscle injury requiring him to spend six months in a cast and the medical prognosis was he would never run again. However, he showed his determination by recovering and going on to set three other world records (1966 – 100 yards 9.1 seconds; 1964 – 4×1 relay University of Oregon team; 1964 – indoor 60 yards 6.0 seconds). He competed for Canada in the 1960, 1964, and 1968 Olympics, winning 100 meter bronze in 1964. He also won the gold in the 1966 Commonwealth games and the 1967 Pan Am Games. After retiring from competition he taught and consulted for Sport Canada and traveled across Canada inspiring young athletes. He was awarded the Order of Canada in 1971 and died tragically young on December 7, 1982 in North Vancouver, British Columbia. The statue sits upon a marble base which was purposely framed out to give the mild illusion of running on water but more so to create an upward lifting energy. It is located along the seawall as joggers run past. / Vancouver, BC – Home of the 2010 Olympics.
I captured this around six years back, when we were doing a road trip of the South West. Jerome is a great place, full of character. We stumbled upon Joe’s place by accident – he calls it a ghost town, but it is rather more a collection of old automobiles and other machinery, a great place for a photographer – he has some rather quirky items dotted around the yard ! / Photographed in the heat of the afternoon sun, the light was not at its best for this subject, so I Ortoned and Textured it, to create a better feel. / You Tube do some great tutorials on Photoshop editing etc., including some on textures ! / VIEW LARGE for the details ! / I scanned a Fuji Velvia transparency with my Nikon Coolscan V ED, shipped it into Adobe PS CS3, where I cleaned the image up a bit with the spot removal tool. Then I played around with the Orton and textures until I was happy with the result. / It was shot on a Ricoh KR10 Super, mounted on a tripod, with polarising filter, f22. /
I needed a drink after this shot.
