  • Transform as Needed; A compilation of old gaming hardware make up the word “Transform” in this design (each item is complete with its own original model number). Contains hardware from/for Nintendo NES, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo Gameboy, and Microsoft X-Box. When things get too heavy or mundane, gaming is a fantastic escape from reality for me… to traverse worlds unknown to others; it is my ability to “transform reality.” Fine jersey cotton, tailored fit T-Shirt. 100% Sweatshop free.

  • The centerpiece and inspiration for this design comes from the antique Rollieflex camera. I wanted to pay homage to the antiquity of photography, one of the newest, yet most popular current art forms. The orange coloring of the camera was inspired by the French style of painting where an outline was painted onto the canvas at first and colored later by an imprecise wash. I used a sans font for the main title, with modification, and mirrored it. Check out my design blog designbysolo.com to view photographs of a printed version of this and other prints. • After designing the print Revolution, I decided to do a small series of prints that payed tribute to some of the technological innovations of the past that have helped shape society (and myself) but have now become outdated and fallen into disrepair. The centerpiece of the Nostalgia print is an IBM Personal Computer AF, a machine similar to the first computer that I came in contact with. The Queen Anne’s Lace makes a return in this print (and all prints in this series) as a cohesive element and a symbol of antiquity. I used a retro fabric print pattern overlaying the design to add texture and a feeling of ambience accented by the distressing and aging techniques applied to the entire piece. • This phrase, “A Time for Diplomacy,” had been playing over and over in my head for no real reason (I don’t think I heard it anywhere) but it has proved to quite a true statement. Diplomacy, or the skill of dealing with people, is an important ability no matter what your occupation is, but it proves to be invaluable as a freelance designer. Originally designed a dark-on-dark version, which looks great on a back lit screen (and is still the one I prefer), but it didn’t turn out well during printing. Therefore, I designed the higher contrast, lighter version which turned out excellent when printed. • “Standing three meters high, huge wampa ice creatures hunt tauntauns and other creatures on the snow plains of Hoth, where their howling wails blend with the icy winds at night.” -Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary. Fine jersey cotton, tailored fit T-Shirt. 100% Sweatshop free.

  • My contribution for the Agent Provocateur Challenge. / The year: 2258 / This design is a symbol of the post apocalyptic era. Purpose driven war has given way to war for the sake of war. The land’s have suffered irrevocable trauma and humankind is on the brink of extinction. Man’s only hope is seek solitude in the only region left unspoiled by the Great War, the depths of the Sea. Underwater colonization could act as savior to the Human race. My design is a play on the “Dove and the Olive Branch.” The dove holding the Olive branch symbolizes hope when all hope was lost, a peace in the midst of turmoil. My design is a Guppy (fish) holding a strand of Kelp. The fish holding a strand of kelp symbolizes the hope for mankind that waits for him beneath the waters, a new frontier untouched by war.

  • A design I created in my new style (this represents a truer version of what the style is evolving towards than Life Aquatic). I created this almost entirely in Illustrator, with a few finishing touches in Photoshop. My intent is to get this printed as wallpaper and put it up in my house.

  • We belong Together! I have been wanting to do a t-shirt with a “message” for some time and this is what I came up with. I know that another Eco shirt might be more of the same right now, but this is my first eco based design so I hope it is still enjoyable. I wanted it to feel like an animal kingdom chart with an array of different animals (with humans included) and have a written message that indicates that we are all meant to live together, harmoniously. The more that the human race grows, the more that we have to expand and the more that we expand, the more that we encroach on the territories of animals. I know that this is inevitable, but I think that we should pursue new ways to share our space with animals and harmonize instead of simply driving them out. / Also, the small writing below each animal is that animal’s Latin name. / Fine jersey cotton, tailored fit T-Shirt. 100% Sweatshop free.
