Great River Gum, / How i pass you by. / A daily ritual, / I have come to know. / Your wisdom permeates / The very land i dwell. / And reminds me, / My time on earth / Is temporary. / You are the reason / I seek, / The inspriation, / The passion. / As human there is / So much to learn. / You are ancient / Yet ageless. / Every season, / I learn / Something new / From you / Old Friend…. this has to be me my favourite photo I have taken to date – it is of my Godson (my best friends eldest son) and my other best friends baby daughter – they have never met before – this was taken when we all got together before they all went back to the UK and Ireland…..after this was taken the peace was forgotten about and it was photos of all the children and posed whereas this is just a memory of peace and happiness! runs through our town and is pretty lovely most of the year but this particular misty december morning it just looked soft, pretty but cold! Le Chaboussant is one River that starts at a source at a trickle it travels through the valley at the bottom of our hamlet it goes through the town (my parents old house had the river running through their garden) and basically circles our whole town. Wells are still used from the river water but these days have pumps! The Folklorique dance group Les Chaboussants named themselves after this river. Milarrochy Bay on the shores of Loch Lomond. Long exposure, taken after sunset Nov 08
taken in May around our friends village after our 2 hour long walk and many photo opps – this lovely cottage/barn is owned by a chap that has grown up in it, and farms still, he has just recently had electric, water and a phone installed – over the last 3 years – doucement, doucement!! Also until recently he still had earth flooring in the kitchen which as been remedied now – a very normal story around here! He also has many goats and shares some of the house with the chickens! This type of house is also known as a Charentaise Long House :) and sometimes the shutters are painted in the typical blue Charante colour! taken outside a Café in a nearby village to us called Blanzay I took this last year in 2007 but felt like tweaking it a bit and playing with S/C some more! Featured in Cottage Style August ‘09 / Featured in Bits and Pieces Jan ‘09 / Selective Colouring Jan ‘09 Canon Ixusi zoom
The same Iris in macro and another angle this was still when I was getting used to my sigma lens and finding out how to work it at it’s best – this was also taken in a hanger so there was no lighting inside, and no flash fired and manual focus it’s all about experimenting and seeing what works thanks to all the positive comments you have made I feel that maybe this is a worthy “pair” now! Flowers in France April – June time! taken in Spring (May) of last year one of the beautiful daisies in the garden – this was taken in manual and I have tweaked it sligthly using a nighttime filter just to give the background a different colour. Canon eos 350d / 300mm focal / f/5.6 / 1/500 seconds / ISO 250 Taken using Sigma zoom lens 70-300mm in macro mode and manual focus
Chloe’s lovely friends bought me a nice bunch of flowers so of course what best to do with them than try out different things with different light sources…this was taken using our table lamp with quite a low wattage bulb to create the silhouette a contrast of light and dark! I caught this lovely one sunbathing on our gaz tank today – I was quite pleased to get in so near!! I hated the tank though as it is dirty and not very nice looking so I asked advice of my friend squealia how to do layers – and she replied ” by sending it to me” :)) what could I say? I need to really play with Paintshop Pro but it is sooo hard to do layers and textures etc….so – this is my butterfly with the helping hand of my friend ;) Canon 400d sigma zoom lens 70-300mm / hand held / ISO 1600 / 1/600 seconds / F/13 / 300mm The butterfly is As is but the background has been textured for a much prettier effect than our grubby old tank!
Just back from a wonderfull week in Cornwall. This was sunset on the last evening at Sennen Cove near Landsend…...what a finish to the week . Had been watching 7 basking sharks here during the afternoon too :)

taken at my friends house a very keen gardener – just leaving when I saw this gorgeous Lavende de Papillion or French Lavender or Butterfly Lavender – whatever the name the colour is gorgeous I think! Canon eos 400d Sigma lens 70-300mm
Taken on the same morning as the previous upload of Buachaille Etive Mor , this time looking in the opposite direction . While waiting for the mist to lift from the Buachaille and for a bit of light to break through , I noticed there was some nice effects on the mountains behind. The pictire lacks a bit of the colour and light we got later on from the Buachaille , but I think it captures that moody, brooding feel that Scotland often has . Thankyou so much for all your great comments yesturday and sorry I can’t answer everyone induvidually! Canon 400D , sigma 10-20mm , Lee filters F16 iso 100 . Raw
