The tourist bureau said when we arrived, ‘How did you find us”. We were able to obtain the services of a free English speaking guide for the day ,who drove us to Adachi and to other tourist spots around Matsue. Definitely worth the effort of going to Matsue to visit this beautiful garden and museum.

  • Japanese gardens (nihon teien), that is, gardens in traditional Japanese style, can be found at private homes, in neighborhood or city parks, and at historical landmarks such as Buddhist temples and old castles. Some of the Japanese gardens most famous in the West, and within Japan as well, are dry gardens or rock gardens, karesansui. The tradition of the Tea masters has produced highly refined Japanese gardens of quite another style, evoking rural simplicity. In Japanese culture, garden-making is a high art, intimately related to the linked arts of calligraphy and ink painting. Since the end of the 19th century, Japanese gardens have also been adapted to Western settings.

  • This is from the “Afternoon Tea” Series, featuring Blythe.

  • BB was born in the woods of Smilington. She showed potential to be a music genius even when lying in her crib….her parents swore they heard BB humming to the tunes of Mozart with perfect timing and accuracy. True enough, she grew up with a fiery passion for classical pieces and her ambition is to be a world renowned orchestra conductor. Look at her, she’s all dressed for success, making her way from Smilington to the big city where she has been successfully being shortlisted for an audition….the day that she has been waiting for has finally arrived! After 2 days of communting,BB now walking briskly, is only a few blocks away from the audition venue and possibly only a few steps to her destiny :D /

  • “I am not a creepy crawlie…at least not 100%...yes, I crawl but which part of me tells you that I am creepy?” Lannie Bessie refutes whatever the plants have been telling her. Sometimes they make cruel jokes about Lannie Bessie’s looks. Mummy Bessie has done a great job in inculcating a healthy sense of self-esteem in this little ladybug. Lannie Bessie doesn’t despise what nature has endowed her with. Instead, she is proud to be part of the bug family whose design has inspired the invention of the classic Volkswagen Beetle!

  • After a beautiful snow fall in Japan. This tree fascinated me with its shape, and the snow made it look even better.

  • A Sakura tree illustration

  • The literal meaning of Ki So Ten Gai is an unusual idea falls down from the sky. The english equivalent meaning could be translated to a most unexpected idea, out of the ordinary. I used this title for a series of artworks I did during the year 2005 through the year 2006. The title was inspired by the trees. I’m fascinated by them. I did a lot of photos with trees as subject in that period and my eyes were constantly directed toward the sky to find a good shot. That seems to me a religious or somewhat mystical behavior. It was like I was waiting for inspiration to come from outside of myself. The title was inspiring for further artworks in the series depicting flowers. I put the subjects at the bottom of the vertical canvas leaving empty spaces at the top. Some flowers are even pointing upwards as if they were intimately tied to some mysterious force. I had found kanji symbols representing this concept and I discretely placed it on my artworks, anyway I recently removed them from a certain number of images, to achieve a clean and cluttered free result. In addition the absence of kanji fits better with cards!

  • The Ki So Ten Gai extra series differentiate itself for an established visual consistency. This result has been attained with an homogeneous use of digital manipolation techniques. From this moment on my the artworks will be more akin to ancient far east art than before. The Use of subtle colors along with vivid ones and the introduction of visual solutions that conjure up Manga-esque images, are the key features that set apart these special artworks from the rest of the collection.

  • Bonsai (kanji: 盆栽, (literally “bon-planted”, where a ‘bon’ is a tray-like pot typically used in bonsai culture) is the art of aesthetic miniaturization of trees, or of developing woody or semi-woody plants shaped as trees, by growing them in containers. Cultivation includes techniques for shaping, watering, and repotting in various styles of containers. ‘Bonsai’ is a Japanese pronunciation of the earlier Chinese term penzai (盆栽). The word bonsai is used in the West as an umbrella term for all miniature trees in containers or pots.

  • Read in my blog about holgaroids and download free photoshop holgaroid actions Astronomically, the vernal equinox (usually March 20 in the Northern Hemisphere, and September 22 in the Southern Hemisphere), should be the middle of spring, and the summer solstice (usually June 21 in the Northern Hemisphere and December 21 in the Southern Hemisphere) should be mid-summer, but daytime temperatures lag behind insolation by several weeks because the earth and sea have thermal latency and take time to warm up. Some cultures call the spring equinox mid-spring, but others regard it as the “first day of spring”. For most temperate regions, signs of spring appear long before the middle of March, but the folklore of March 21 being the “first day of spring” persists, though June 21 as the “first day of summer” is common only in the USA. According to the Celtic tradition, which is based solely on daylight and the strength of the noon sun, spring begins in early February (near Imbolc or Candlemas) and continues until early May (Beltane). The phenological definition of spring relates to indicators, the blossoming of a range of plant species, and the activities of animals, or the special smell of soil that has reached the temperature for micro flora to flourish. The first swallow to arrive or the flowering of lilac may be the indicator of spring. It therefore varies according to the climate and according to the specific weather of a particular year. • From Osaka-Info Natural park (quasi-national park) of arresting scenic beauty spreading through about 100- to 600- meter high mountains in the northern part of Mino City. In the park a long gorge runs through forests from the magnificent Mino Waterfall, about 33 m high and 5 m wide, forming a habitat for 980 species of plants and over 3,000 species of insects. Located in precious natural forests in Osaka Prefecture, the park is the western starting point of the Tokai Natural Trail. Visitors can enjoy seasonal changes in the scenery, such as cherry blossoms in spring, trees covered with ice and hanging icicles in winter and especially the brilliantly colored leaves late in fall. The Mino Mountains are an ancient sacred site of Mountain Buddhism, where there are old temples, including Ryuanji Temple (otherwise known as Mino Temple), an important training center said to have been established by En-no-gyoja, the founder of Shugendo. Mino Insect Museum, which is located on the way to the waterfall, is also well known. At the museum visitors can see not only about 10,000 samples of insects, but also over 200 live butterflies of about 30 species, and learn about their year-round ecology.
