  • Alone Reinvented!

  • Completed 2004 age 18 medium: crayon and watercolor on a piece of paper in my sketchbook. This work has been featured in: Creative Cards

  • I have been spending time when I can at the Portland Japanese garden. Not only is this a very beautiful garden, it is very challenging to me. Am learning a lot taking pictures here, issues I really can’t find else where. One way to grow and Expand. / Photo is taken with my Evolt 510 camera on a Tri pod, photo is untouched. / Anyway.. this is the main bridge at the gardens surrounded with the lush greenery.

  • For drawing day Medium: marker, pens, pencil crayons and chalk pastel. I was inspired by the Japanese artist Hiroshi Senju, who tends to limit his colors in his paintings. Sometimes he paints an image where the background is the complimentary colors of the subject. His style is simple but at the same time intense, where the foreground stands out from the complimentary background. This drawing however is different from his style; I have done another painting before which is closer to his style: As for the form of the tree, my inspiration came from this: More from Drawing Day: / This work has been featured in: / Color Me a Rainbow

  • Kyoto, Japan

  • This tree-lined boulevard runs down from Aoyama-dori to the Olympic stadiums. Being connected to Aoyama, a very well-to-do part of Tokyo, means there is a real mixture of people walking down this street; workmen from the nearby construction site mix with socialites. The light coming through the trees and at the end of the path was amazing. Kind of reminded me of some spots I like in Paris. Nikon D300 / 85mm f/1.4 AF D http://blog.alfiegoodrich.com

  • “I am not a creepy crawlie…at least not 100%...yes, I crawl but which part of me tells you that I am creepy?” Lannie Bessie refutes whatever the plants have been telling her. Sometimes they make cruel jokes about Lannie Bessie’s looks. Mummy Bessie has done a great job in inculcating a healthy sense of self-esteem in this little ladybug. Lannie Bessie doesn’t despise what nature has endowed her with. Instead, she is proud to be part of the bug family whose design has inspired the invention of the classic Volkswagen Beetle!

  • “Oh no!The Queen Of Hearts is in a foul mood again!! Is my head going to be next???” Run! Alice run! / / You can view and buy my other “Alice and Queen Of Hearts” creations at my Zazzle Gallery:

  • Another view from my little virtual Japanese garden….

  • Tree bark in Tokyo. I saw a figure in it, very small, praying on the edge of a precipice. I dodged the area around it to highlight what I saw. A little photoshopping for levels and contrast.

  • The literal meaning of Ki So Ten Gai is an unusual idea falls down from the sky. The english equivalent meaning could be translated to a most unexpected idea, out of the ordinary. I used this title for a series of artworks I did during the year 2005 through the year 2006. The title was inspired by the trees. I’m fascinated by them. I did a lot of photos with trees as subject in that period and my eyes were constantly directed toward the sky to find a good shot. That seems to me a religious or somewhat mystical behavior. It was like I was waiting for inspiration to come from outside of myself. The title was inspiring for further artworks in the series depicting flowers. I put the subjects at the bottom of the vertical canvas leaving empty spaces at the top. Some flowers are even pointing upwards as if they were intimately tied to some mysterious force. I had found kanji symbols representing this concept and I discretely placed it on my artworks, anyway I recently removed them from a certain number of images, to achieve a clean and cluttered free result. In addition the absence of kanji fits better with cards!

  • Because of the different techniques I was trying to develope in digital manipulation and the constantly research of more compelling subjects, most of the artwork’s features that set up as a whole the Ki So Ten Gai series, were continuously changing. Therefore in some cases I chose a different title from that of the series. In some photos I tried to apply the Orton effect but I found it limitating. I had to achieve a more pictorial look. I had to create images that were an hybridization between photography and painting. The literal meaning of yuki is snow, a snowfall, snows.

  • From my recent trip to Japan. One of the wonders of the Japanese mountains are the beautiful trees. Have to love snowboarding through them. This shot taken on Hakuba 47 mountain.

  • This is the quad lift line up to Minamisawa Peak on 47. I thought about cropping out the chair but I think it’s all part of the mountain experience. To ski such beautiful terrain and access these magical mountains, we have to get up there somehow. The views are also magical. The ride down in fresh snow is even moreso!

  • A lovely autumn sceen with water, trees and bats hanging in the trees.

  • Spring is one of the four temperate seasons. Spring marks the transition from winter into summer. Its days are nearly twelve hours long with increasing day length, as it occurs near the time of an equinox. Early annuals bloom in the spring. In the Northern Hemisphere, holidays such as Easter and Earth Day occur during the spring, which runs from March into June. In the Southern Hemisphere, holidays such as Rosh Hashanna and Yom Kippur occur during the spring, which runs from September into December. Also, the tropical cyclone season begins during the late spring in both hemispheres, though it is more delayed in the north Atlantic Ocean than the other ocean basins.

  • Contemporary Mount Fuji and cherry blossom art in white, pink, brown and shades of blue. This impressionistic landscape painting honors Japan’s most beautiful mountain. The original painting was made with artist-grade acrylics on canvas by the Canadian contemporary artist, Soniei. • This kanji says that “even monkeys fall out of the trees” sometimes. No one is perfect I guess. I have heard that people like us for our virtues, but love us for our faults. I was going to make a joke about changing my name to New Madrid, but when I looked up to see what the largest the earthquake fault line was, the first answer in Wiki-answers was The crack between my cheeks. Life’s a hoot. Haaaaa!

  • Spent the day chasing butterflies and found out, unsurprisingly, that my son has much sharper eyesight than me. There are things lurking on trees that I’d rather not know about….

  • A customizable verion is available at 8my Zazzle store in a different format: * Hayama is a beautiful town in Japan renowned for it’s beaches and green hills. This is where I did my internship during the summer of 2007. Hayama is part of the Miura Peninsula; other cities in this Peninsula include Yokosuka, Zushi and Kamakura. Th coast of Miura offers beautiful beaches with stunning views of Mt. Fuji and many more splendours. / / I was going through my Japan pics recently and uploaded a few for this calendar; though some are already published in my portfolio including the following: Cover: Shiroyama / June: Sunshine on Takeishi Beach / August: Mt. Fuji Sunset I / September: Mt. Fuji Sunset V / October: Mt. Fuji Sunset VI / November: Mt. Fuji Sunset IV / December: Sunset over Mt. Fuji and Enoshima under pink clouds The last pics of Mt. Fuji were taken when the office threw me a farewell party at Hayama Isshiki beach. I’d be glad to change images or the order to suit personal preferences; or create a custom calendar. Some other relevant images from in my public portfolio include the following: Hayama Seaside / Sunset over Mt. Fuji and Enoshima / / I can also publish any of the hidden images upon request. / / / Other travel based calendars: / Around the Globe / Italy / Rome / Edinburgh / London
