  • Urban cityscape as viewed from the observation deck of the Shinjuku government tower (the south one, I think) in Tokyo, Japan. (Admission is free to both towers’ observation decks, so if you’re ever in Shinjuku, bear that in mind. Bear in mind also that your chances of the weather being clear enough to see Mt Fuji are cripplingly small. I certainly didn’t see it!) Anyway, back to the shot: I like it, it’s pretty cool, and I just adore Tokyo; but I was really, REALLY surprised when it won the October pentaxforums forum challenge poll, for the theme : “Cityscape” 8)) So in that regard, I guess it is the most ‘popular’ photo I’ve taken, as well as one I like!

  • Taken at Shinjuku ion Tokyo/Japan. / Effect was made by zooming the lense in ..quite like the result :)

  • Photo taken November 2006, Daikanyama, Tokyo, Japan.

  • Taken in Village Vanguard store, Shimo Kitazawa, Tokyo. From right to left we have cans of oden, seal curry, deer curry, minke whale curry and bear curry.

  • Tokyo.2007

  • Ikebukuro, Tokyo. The morning rush across the street from the train station and metro. Everyone jostling for space. I think it shows how hectic life can be in an Asian metropolis. / Today was my first try at using long exposures, and I felt that this was the best of the bunch from today. Any constructive criticism is welcome. I took this close-by to my home. !

  • Cherry Blossom covered bridge near Tokyo.

  • Ikebukuro is, after Shibuya and Shinjuku, one of the busiest spots in Tokyo. At night the opportunities for photography are everywhere. But it can be overwhelming sometimes. I usually choose to stay in one place for a while and let the action unfold, rather than to always be hunting for it. Nikon D300 / 85mm f/1.4 AF D

  • Not only do Japanese bullet-trains look cool, the ladies who work on them are beautiful too.

  • I was walking around Omotesando and Harajuku to kill some time before meeting a friend the other night and found this patch of cosmos flowers. Planted out in the street, behind them were the lights of a shop and a vending machine was providing some light from my side. Just beautiful. Got mesmerised for a good fifteen minutes by these flowers. Nikon D300 / 85mm f/1.4 AF D

  • Finally I got out amongst the autumn trees today with two of my photography students. Plus I had a little time myself to shoot some of the trees in Yoyogi Park on what was a beautiful day with gorgeous light. This pic is currently in the ‘Zen’ competition at JPEG magazine. • I spent some time at the beautiful Rikugien Park today. This little detail of branches, leaves and bokeh caught my eye soon after arriving at the park. Nikon D300 / Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 ED IF @ f/2.8

  • 31 years after World War III…....

  • Tokyo, Japan

  • Rushed to catch the train when I saw what the weather was like. Normally, the front is empty where I get on, but when I boarded, Sod’s Law decreed that there were 2 people standing in front of the window – A big guy with a newspaper and a little old lady with a walking stick. I was just trying to make up my mind which I was going to strike down when the old lady got lucky and was offered a seat : )

  • Vector image, drawn from a photo taken in Tokyo. Also added a couple of scribbly, hand drawn headphones in the foreground to give it some depth. I just hope my interpretation of those characters hasn’t changed their meaning too much!!!!! details /
