stencil and paint on canvas
I shot this in Japan with my family on a beautiful crisp day.
After an early summer thunderstorm, the sky cleared and gave way to a crisp beautifully lit night. The water puddles were reflecting the gorgeous structure and light of the surrounding temple.

the whaling thats going on today makes me feel sick. in this day and age there are so many things going on that you can’t even imagine. we try not to look. how could someone do these horrible acts and not see? well, i see. i see the suffering. i see the pain. i see the whales crying. i see red.

An image of the shrine atop Mount Takao (Takao-san) on the outskirts of Tokyo, Japan. It’s a steep but pleasant climb to the top, made easier in November by the views of the maple trees along the route. Or if you wish, you can take a cable car most of the way up. This is one of my very old shots taken on film and scanned. The image quality is not great (both the original photo and the scan) so I am only offering it at greeting card size for now. A special version of this image, optimized for greeting cards, is available here.
Preparing the energy for your best shot!! Enjoy! _
A photo like this always makes me feel “the guy behind the button”. I didn’t create this, I only registered it. Yet I love this image. It’s another one from Aomori in the north of Honshu, the central island of Japan. What you see is a nebuta-no-sato. Giant floats that are carried through the city in the beginning of August. They are actually giant lanterns made out of rice paper. They have a historic origin, these floats. In the past they were carried through the city in times of war. Like this one, they mostly depict mythological demons in battle. Dragons, not in this picture, are another important ingredient. Available as desktop wallpaper More Japan / / /
Japan has so many wonderful places to visit, and I would recommend Nikko to anyone wanting to see some ancient villages and temples. The water here was ice cold even though the temperature was so hot and humid. I wanted to jump right in.

I went walking in the forest, the Black Forest. It was very Post Modern. I went around in circles. I think that’s the way it is here. I’m a little dizzy.
Blog engry about this image is here.

My origami calendar I tried to fold a crane out of gummy candy, which came out far less successful than the candy wrapper folded crane. First I had to take a slice of gummy thin enough to fold, but not too thin that it would be too delicate to fold with; or stick to one another too easily while folding; hence getting ruined. Secondly the folding process could not be done continuously; I had to leave time between some folds to let it dry before proceeding, otherwise the gummy is just too sticky to work with. Third, the completed crane had the tendency to want to unfold and shrink, hence the stubbiness. This also made photo shooting difficult; I had to try to take the picture before the crane unfolded or contracted any further; the parts needed some pinching and stretching before the picture was taken. I was debating on whether to upload this or not, but hey it atleast kinda recognizable as a crane… well I liked the title :P This work has been featured in / Little Things To Make You Smile / The Sculptinators / Macro Untouched More Sample Origami:

It’s an ugly grey day full of rain, so I was very happy about this colourdrop.
Watercolour and ink on Bockingford watercolour paper I painted this last week as a birthday card for my youngest daughter Lucy. Lucy is studying Japanese and Chinese language and history at University. She likes the colour and shape of Koi so I wanted to create a special greetings card for her; this was the result.
