It was only when I was checking my photo’s did I notice the shadowy figures in the background…. just some passerby or the guardians of Janet’s Foss, watching out for the fairies? ;-) Janet’s Foss is found on the walk between Malham and Gordale Scar in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Not far from Gordale Scar is Janet’s Foss, it’s a pretty secluded spot, popular with hikers.. it’s a place for fairies… the fall is named after the so called queen of fairies, Janet, who lives in the cave at the side of the falls. Taken in the yorkshire Dales National Park. WATERFALLS SET

This room belonged to Janet Pratt, though what became of her when this site was vacated i have no idea. Most of the rooms down this end of the nursing home had name plaques on the door with a little doodle underneath, this particular one having a bunch of flowers in a vase.

Foss is the Old Norse word for a Waterfall or Force and Janet (or Jannet) / Was believed to be the queen of the local fairies who lives behind the fall in the cave. / The Yorkshire Dales.

The small waterfall of Janet’s Foss is a popular place for families to visit as it is conveniently situated next to the roadside between Malham and Gordale Bridge. In past times the pool below the waterfall was a sheepwash for local hill farmers. A good spot too, on the road to market to get the sheep looking their best. The Foss is a single drop waterfall of about 4 metres. Oh, Janet was a local fairy who lived in a cave behind the waterfall. Really!

I wrote two poems in the Redbubble upload box. Automatic writting spir of the moment. “Census” was about a census form, and how I ticked every box etc. because of 1 line, So if you want to know me, Just knock on my door my brother. or similar, someone knocked on my door. The description refered to a 78 year old man in our district being fined $800 for not using block letters on the form and being late filling it out. / / The poem ” Apologies are Useless” was an attempt at an apology to my love, Janet, who was returned overseas in 2005. It mentioned her name. As I said I wrote them in the RedBubble upload box on the spir of the moment and thought they would remain, but when I was suspended they and everything else was deleted. They are mentioned on my Bubble Activity report, but as they have been deleted ( not by me ), the link does not go to them. If I am ever sent a census form again ( which, God willing I will be ) I will tick every F… Box, again. I still claim authorship of the poems and copyright. Should anyone have taken a copy or emailed a copy to someone can they please send them to me. I could try to reconstruct them from memory, but know that I would not get it 100% correct. Please help…

They have these titles for a reason. When we first got Big Guy he was the size of a half dollar. He was raised in a tank. Held and hand fed a lot. He is very gentle. Janet on the other hand was in a tank for a very short time. She was still tiny when she was rescued and I was going to leave her in Big Guy’s tank for awhile. Since he had moved to the luxury suite (pond). But Janet was attacking the couple of fish in the tank. She was a little meanie. She was thrown into the pond quick. She also grew very fast…unlike Big Guy. In the pond Big Guy was still his kind, gentle self. Janet what a beast. Neither of the turtles will eat the live bearing minnows in the pond. Neither will the 2 Oscars we bought for that purpose. But throw a cricket in there! Once the Oscars have grabbed their fill, and they are not afraid of the turtles, Janet finishes the crickets off as fast as she can get them. Poor Big Guy…the fish steal from him…Janet steals from him…Janet will even chase Big Guy down and grab an unfinished morsel right out of his mouth. Thus the titles. /
