This symbol of Scotland appealed to me as the still very tight buds somehow reminded me of the stones in my kilt pin when I was a wee girl. Captured during a walk near Ardmore Point on the southern shores of the Hebridean Island of Islay, The Cotton Thistle is also commonly known as a Scots or Scottish thistle.
