Hidden deep within Gippsland’s remote wilderness this enchanted scene remains in its ancient state…My journey took me to through this ( http://www.redbubble.com/works/show/21208# ) location after many hours of trekking through trackless remote rainforests, gullies, escarpments and bogs in the rain. / High on the wilderness plateau the clouds condensed as stiff south westerly winds ploughed them into the mountains producing steady rain – which i had forecast perfectly for this trip…as i knew it would vivdly bring out all the colours, scents and sounds of the rainforest. Though the altitude also brought about thick mist at times – equally beautiful though a touch hazardous. This was truly an enduring trek that really pushed me in this isolated country…I can still vividly recall the emotions and experiences as I had to er on ths side of caution at times as i used many of my life long skills trying to negotiate the steep un-humanoid friendly wilderness. The escarpment plunged raggedly hundreds of meters below at times and in rain and fog it’s boundary was hard to pin point – the build up of forest debri on the ground was incredible making finding a way through challenging to say the least. One slip or error and it could well have been disasterous. A life time of experience with nature certainly made this journey possible as i drew on all my knowledge and physical abilities to make it a possiblity. / After reaching my destination, which i had set as midday – not a location, i turned to retrace my steps out of there… For navigation i had a topographic map and a simple effective method using a series of flourescent tag markers i tied on key trees with the number of tags for which way to turn at times. / Finally i emerged out of the dense gullies and forests to an old disused forestry road – I felt exhaustedly relieved yet on top of the world ! The feeling of being alive and priveledged enough to experience what i just had was almost overwhelming… all that was left was another 7km walk in the rain then the 100km drive which comprised of 4WD’ing and cutting the rd’s clear of fallen trees back down the mountain and back to relative civilisation. / What a place! I felt so envigourated and high on natural life from what was a most refreshing journey for my soul. :- )

It’s a black day and I don’t know why? I sit and cry, / I look out side and see the sky but I don’t know why I sit and cry, / perhaps it because I have been made slow down / as may car has been taken out into town / I am stuck at home with things to do / Yet I walk in circles wondering who is who / perplexed, hurt and angered too / I cry & cry for fools like you / I cry & cry for times gone by / I cry & cry but I don’t know why / I cry & cry for something to do / I need to escape, I need a break through / I cry for something to do / I cry for the old & the new / I cry for those who are crying too / who like me, are the isolated few.

Hi All; I was trying to rack my brain on how to just isolate my cards for viewing/purchase, since RB has no way to do that yet. So, I created a Writing, and put links to various cards that says “Go To My Cards”. I also, passed this on to my customers so they could purchase from there as well. If anyone has a better way, I’m all (virtual) ears. Cheers. G.

Here’s a simple tutorial for those wanting to turn their photographs into tee-shirts without using the background – in other words, to make your photo of a beer bottle or candle have a transparent background that will work on almost any colour of shirt. This will also help you isolate objects with transparent backgrounds to use in 3D images, or to pull into other 2D images (compilations or collages). You can download the tutorial from here (the tutorial is in pdf format): Isolating Objects with Photoshop’s Pen Tool I’m sorry but the directions are for PC users. If someone wants to send me the equivalent mac terminology I’ll be happy to add it to the tutorial. Any questions (or you just want to point out mistakes…which, like everyone else I do make, and sometimes miss), feel free to bubble me :)

I had a vision for isolated schools. There are over 100 schools in Victoria that have around 500 students and are in isolated country areas, away from large towns or cities, servicing country areas. I have a vision to evangelise them by linking them up with large churches in cities. To do this I firstly researched them and also wrote a book of how this could be done. I called this project “Big Bro” / I believe the information book could also be used in other countries if they have isolated schools in their state as well. / I tried to research NSW, but do not know it well enough to know which areas are isolated, especially along the coast as there are so many towns dotted along the coastline. I could do with a bit of help researching other states as well. If any one is interested that would be great. I have come to a bit of a dead end in it all, but believe it is from God and there will be a timing in it. If anyone is interested in any of this, I would be happy to hear from you, its been a bit of a one man show until now. Love and blessings to you / Lorraine

Monday, 13 July 2009, 23:51:09 . . . the redbubble welcome email just arrived in my inbox – the experience of reading the words felt warm, breaking a lonely isolation on the far west of a little island and I found myself wanting to believe that the message was more than a standard cyber generation. I went to Pilgrim’s page and the expression there touched me, strangely; there’s a genuineness? So, I began my redbubble journey today, scratching my head a bit with my current picture formats, wishing for respite from relentlessly long hours in front of the internet . . .. There does appear to be a unique feel about this site, something that gives me hope and that spurs my desire to focus with a lighter note. My partner lived in Australia as a teenager – he transmits a sense of the magic that is that large island – oh for some of the dry, hot, brown arid for a while, instead of this constantly green wet. Well met.

THE DIFFERENT COLOURS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SERIES The Different Colours of Domestic Violence Series came to me as a therapeutic cleansing of sorts for myself. Having come out of an abusive relationship with someone left me feeling many things but mostly empty, ashamed, fearful, guilty, powerless & alone! This is a common theme of emotions that a person feels when being violated by another. However, I did not want to paint anymore. I couldn’t. I had major “painters block” and it bothered me to no end. Then I came across a beautiful soul named April Mansilla, who is an artist – April Mansilla and uses different mediums to express herself; her work is straight from the heart. I saw her Series of Hope and asked her about it. I learned she did this all in oil pastels. I was so impressed as her depictions were not what someone would normally want to hang on their wall, as the subject matter is very sensitive. Her honesty & in revealing her true self to the world was my first inspiration for the series. I had never used oil pastels but thought I would give it my best shot. Thank you Chicka xo Art is therapy all in it’s own right, so I slowly started trying to depict the different emotions that one has to endure while in a relationship that is violent & abusive. And there are so many emotions, hence the title of the series. I wasn’t only thinking of me as this series made it’s way to fruition; I was thinking of everyone around the world, be it men/woman & children who have to face & deal with the debilitating factors that domestic violence has on one’s mind, body, heart & soul!!! I live, love, breathe & dream of art every single day. It is a passion for me that I could not live without. I will never be able to express my gratitude & abundance of love to & for my parents, who saw something in me long before I did. It was their realization that I had something ‘there.’ My Mom & Dad are the most valuable blessings I have in this life and I will be forever & eternally grateful to them for being exactly who they are. I want to thank Trevor for allowing me to vent through my art, even though sometimes at a snails pace, he was such a “rock” throughout this process as I spent long hours tucked away in my studio. He helped me with constructive critiques or if I asked him to give me his opinion, he would do so honestly. I appreciate all his wonderful notes he left for me and his awesome shock at how beautifully some of the portraits had ‘come to life’ since he had last had a peek at my progress. He always let me know how proud he was of me for showing the world something they probably did not want to look at! His encouragement truly helped me get to the finish line. He is the most kind-hearted man I have ever been fortunate to have in my life. He is a true Treasure. XO As if anyone didn’t know already how much I love my children, Angie, Andre & April…well I’m not sure how comfortable it was for them to watch me show the world this kind of artwork. However, I have always taught them to be honest, speak your mind, to respect others and be true to yourself. They do just that in their lives & I am so very proud to be their Mom but most importantly, I feel so blessed to watch them making their way through their lives with integrity, dignity, honesty, values, principles, love, kindness & respect for others! They chase their passions and do so with hard work, diligence & determination. And the only time they look down on anyone is to help them up! They are…my Angels in disguise :))) I have a few more people I would like to thank along the way. Ron Sombilon for seeing something authentic & unique in EVERYONE…this man is one of the most positive and uplifting spirits on this earth. He saw something in me and let me know. He touches so many lives every single day that I’m sure he has a few clones out there in Vancouver. I don’t know how he does what he does but as he says on his website, something that changed his life forever, a quote by Denis Waitley “Chase your passion, not your pension!” My exchanges with Ron were uplifting, fruitful, positive and full of raw energy to go get what you were put in this world to do. He can crack open anyone’s painters block, as he did mine! If you haven’t seen what he is all about yet…I suggest you go and look! He’s a powerhouse & all to help others in every walk of life! You can visit his site at Ron Sombilon Gallery Thank you Ron, even though we don’t chat very often lately, I still think of you often, your work and all the positive that can come out of doing what you love. You are walking, breathing, living proof!!! Nadia Nadia Nadia...thank you for that comment you made on “Can Anyone See This?” I had every intention of displaying these portraits in an open forum one day to raise awareness about this horrific epidemic that plagues our neighbourhoods, our friends homes & sometimes even exists our our own families. We cannot see what the victims will not allow us to see as it is usually a hidden shameful existance. My hope was that I could reach out to others so they could realize they have a voice, they do not have to stay in a relationship that is harmful and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. So I also appreciate the fact that you put me in touch with the women at the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre, otherwise I would not be a part of this Art Exhibit. Another woman & friend of mine, who’s tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed is Michelle Johnson Major Bava. She is working on behalf of all women through her art and speaking engagements. She has dedicated her life to helping others and she is an absolutely amazing person and I am proud to know her. You can visit her site at Michelle Johnson Major Bava . Thank you Michelle :) I also want to thank all the people who commented on my portraits, the people who did not, the people who said it’s too scary to look at or I “can’t” look at those, because it means you saw them and it made you think which in turn made you aware, to some degree or another. I appreciate all the feedback, comments, likes and compliments. Thank you my fellow Bubble Buddys for all your encouragement and comments here on RB…you truly kept me going with all of your inspiring words, emails & compliments. My deepest appreciation to you all!!! :) My H.O.P.E. (Helping Open People’s Eyes & Ears) is that in portraying an ugly, sometimes brutal reality to all that they will lend a hand, an ear, a bed & a safe haven to someone in need. Yes, there is power in money, as money can move things along rather quickly. However, I honestly believe in my heart that the real power lyes within people helping people, one human being at a time! Here’s hoping this small ripple in ‘my’ water can possibly start a tidal wave!!! Peace, light, love & hope to all… God bless, / Ieneke

Being a student, I usually hate getting up before there has even been a slight crack of light penetrating my closed, couldn’t be more shut, curtains. But the more I get into photography – the more I regret not getting up all the times previously. Inspired by the work of Eric Wyllie (who takes the most fantastic pictures of the Knapps Loch in Kilmacolm, Scotland) I got my act together and got up before sunrise. My first visit to the Knapps was a large disappointment. The clouds were low and dark – I got a shot out of it anyway, but it almost put me off going back! I had a look at the met office website one night and the forecast for the next morning was music to my ears: “mist”. I woke up about 6am, drove the 10minutes to the Knapps and I was gob smacked. A lovely purple hue on the horizon, 10ft high rising mist, and the whole Loch to myself. It can’t be put into words. I was then joined by about 4 other photographers – one of whom I got talking to (that’s another thing I love about photography…the people I meet are always nice and great to have a chat with. You don’t get that in the middle of a city – unless it’s a drunken/drugged up tool from Glasgow who wants 20p for “eh bus hame”. Either way). 3hours and 12GB(!!!) later I headed home…but only because I was going to be late for work! I probably spent about 2hours processing some of the images (and it probably took 2hours to upload them all!) and I actually wished I had taken more. But I got enough out of it. Picked up a good few things for next time. One of them being to bring a pair of gloves – but what’s a little frostbite when this image was the result of it: / 2 words: Worth it.
