  • This picture was taken overlooking the sea from Chale on the Isle of Wight

  • From a magical winter afternoon on the Isle of Capri near Naples, Italy. It was our last day in the area, and we only had a few hours on Capri. When we reached the summit to see Villa Jovis, home to the ancient Roman Emperors, it was closed, but through the kindness of a local, we got in anyway. / This view must be why emperors of ancient Roma built palaces here, and I know it’s why this will not be the last time I see Capri.

  • This super image was caught using a canon digital SLR on slow shutter speed as lightning lights up the ocean between Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight. Even at the tip of the lightning strike on the far right you can see the red glow as the lightning hits the ground. / This image is only available through here or my own website, stunning!

  • Highland Cow and a rainbow, Isle of Skye, Scotland, UK

  • Hengistbury Head Standing proudly at the eastern end of Poole Bay and sheltering Christchurch Harbour from the prevailing westerly winds, Hengistbury Head is one of the jewels in Dorset’s crown. Rich in history, the remains of both Stone Age and Iron Age settlements provide evidence that the Head has been inhabited on and off for 12,500 years. In more recent times, 18th & 19th century smugglers landed their cargoes on the beach, and there’s even the remains of a Victorian quarry and port. Modern amenities include a large car park, popular cafe, and a golf course, not to mention the brightly coloured “Noddy” train, a favourite with children and adults alike. Our feathered friends love it here too as well as several species of insects, butterflies and reptiles. This view of Hengistbury is taken from Southbourne and shows the Isle of Wight and The Needles on the horizon. • Just disappearing into the mist and clouds are the rocks of the Storr including the pillar called the Old Man of Storr, Isle of Skye, Scotland

  • This Old Fort is the Hata area which is about an hour Drive from Dubai , UAE.

  • I was waxing sentimental today about my trip over a year ago to the Highlands of Scotland that included a visit to picturesque Skye. The Isle of Skye is a hauntingly beautiful land the likes of which I’ve never seen before or since. If there’s one place I’ve traveled to that I’m bound to return, it’s this gorgeous place. This photo was my first ever attempt at a panorama. The land in this picture is known as the Quiraing, It’s formed as a result of landslipping, that is, whole series of the earth falling away from each other at different rates, at least my understanding of it. The phenomena creates an amazing view does it not? I would later see scenes from this same vantage point in the motion picture, Stardust (an awesome story by Neil Gaiman worth reading and watching).

  • Puffin on Lunga, in the Treshnish Isles, off the Isle of Mull, Scotland. http://www.orcadiaimages.co.uk

  • Taken in Scotland on the Isle of Sky this rock stood steadfast unlike my little tripod. It took a number of tries to take this shot as I was at the end of zoom range 200mm, on a windy cliff top.

  • The Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. The water in the pools is bright turquoise due to the mineral deposits in the rocks. The mighty Black Cuillins tower above them in the distance.

  • Idyllic weather and a fabulous scene, viewed from Elgol towards the Cuillin Mountains, across Loch Scavaig. / I loved the way the sun turns the rocks to the colour of melted honey !! / One of my absolute fave places on Earth , there is so much here for the photographer !! Shot on a Canon EOS 40D with a polarising filter attached, mounted on tripod, f22, 1/15sec, iso 100, auto wb, RAW file processed in Photoshop CS3 levels /curves/selective colour. • “No relaxation, no conversation, no variation / In a very dark blue, blue condition” / BAKER & PETER EDWARD – CREAM. A painting of Laxey beach on the Isle of Man on a cool, mizzling morning. I painted it because Life is NOT always sweetness and light, there has to be rain too. But as Mark Knoppfler sang, “Why Worry, There should be laughter after the pain, there should be sunshine after the rain” 300mm x 400mm Fabriano paper using Schmincke, Sennelier and Unison Pastels.

  • A magical landscape, where if you sit a while, you will indeed spot a fairy or two !! / My beloved Isle of Skye. / The Fairy Pools are a series of rapids flowing over the rocks of a small ravine in the shadow of the Cuillin Mountains of Skye. With a backdrop like this….......who could fail with the camera ?!! / There is a great trail beside the falls, one of my fave walks on Skye ! Shot on a Canon EOS 40D.with polarising filter, mounted on tripod, f22, iso 100, single RAW file processed in Photomatix, then finished off in Photoshop CS3. • Barra is a small Island South of Uist in the outer Hebrides. / oil on canvas / original size: 90×60cm / Located adjacent to the beach where the plane lands on Barra, this Croft, appears framed by the Gulf Stream aqua waters which complement the contrasting Red roof.

  • Looking North-West from somewhere near colbost (Duirinish). / The Duirinish Peninsula stretches west from Dunvegan. Most of the area is wild and uninhabited, with the flat-topped mountains of Healabhal Mor and Healabhal Bheag, or Macleod’s Tables, dominating the surrounding countryside. The story goes that when the Chief of the Clan Macleod wanted to impress a visitor he dined with them atop Healabhal Mor, surrounded by torch-carrying clansmen. / Oil on Canvas / Original size 100×100cm SCOTT NAISMITH WEBSITE

  • The Needles is a row of three distinctive stacks of chalk that rise out of the sea off the western extremity of the Isle of Wight, England, close to Alum Bay. A lighthouse designed by Scottish civil engineer James Walker has stood at the western end of the formation since 1859. / The formation takes its name from the former fourth needle-shaped pillar called Lot’s Wife that used to stand in its midst until it collapsed in a storm in 1764. The remaining rocks are all short and squat and not at all needle-like, but the name has stuck. / (Sourced from Wikipedia) I captured this image from the right seat in a 1960 Beech 33 Debonair as we did a clockwise circuit of the Isle of Wight before returning back across the New Forest for a landing at Old Sarum airfield.
