  • Taken from Ryde Pier on the Isle of Wight, this picture is a scenic view overlooking a Thames Barge which has been run aground deliberately in order that the people on board can play on the sands at low tide. You can see No-Man’s Land fort in the background – a sea fort built in the middle of The Solent in the nineteenth century to guard against French invasion.

  • A pair of lilies at Ventnor Botanic Gardens, Isle of Wight, UK.

  • This is an Emerald Swallowtail taken at Butterfly World on the Isle of Wight.

  • This is a shot of the Terminus at Ryde Pier Head. I’m quite fond of this one, I must admit. The title is taken from the album “Axe Victim” by Be Bop Deluxe

  • This honey bee on my Ceanothus in my back garden was so weighed down by pollen – and yet there always seems to be room for a bit more!

  • A sunset at Shippard’s Chine on the Isle of Wight, looking towards Freshwater Bay and the Needles. /

  • This picture was taken overlooking the sea from Chale on the Isle of Wight

  • Shortlisted for Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year 2007.

  • A Tree Nymph butterfly from Butterfly World on the Isle of Wight

  • Quite a subtle cutout this one, I think. I wanted this shot to play with the nature of reality a bit – in that the more vivid and colourful world is contained within the reflection while the “real” world is aged and monochrome. Analyse that! ;-D This sculpture can be found at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight

  • St Helen’s Church on the Isle of Wight was built in the 13th century. Later destroyed, it became a seamark in the 1800s to assist ships in their navigation of the Solent.

  • This super image was caught using a canon digital SLR on slow shutter speed as lightning lights up the ocean between Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight. Even at the tip of the lightning strike on the far right you can see the red glow as the lightning hits the ground. / This image is only available through here or my own website, stunning!

  • copyright 2008 Forest Friends Photography This image was taken at the Donkey Sanctuary, Ventnor. If you have never been there, and are visiting the Island, please go, it is well worth the visit. This sanctuary is open most days, admission is FREE & donations are welcome. / This Sanctuary has been around for many years now, and houses over 100 retired donkey’s. This organisation only exists due to the publics donations, and have no other funding, so please give generously by buying one of these prints. Thank you. This donkey is having the time of its life, or so it appears. Looks like he’s having a great time, rolling around in the grass. • Hengistbury Skies Location: Hengistbury Head in Dorset, England, viewed from Southbourne and showing the Isle of Wight on the horizon. Date: 19th March 2008 Click here for another picture and more information on Hengistbury Head

  • Hengistbury Head Standing proudly at the eastern end of Poole Bay and sheltering Christchurch Harbour from the prevailing westerly winds, Hengistbury Head is one of the jewels in Dorset’s crown. Rich in history, the remains of both Stone Age and Iron Age settlements provide evidence that the Head has been inhabited on and off for 12,500 years. In more recent times, 18th & 19th century smugglers landed their cargoes on the beach, and there’s even the remains of a Victorian quarry and port. Modern amenities include a large car park, popular cafe, and a golf course, not to mention the brightly coloured “Noddy” train, a favourite with children and adults alike. Our feathered friends love it here too as well as several species of insects, butterflies and reptiles. This view of Hengistbury is taken from Southbourne and shows the Isle of Wight and The Needles on the horizon. • One of the loveliest family holidays we ever had was at the Isle of Wight. It had a lovely olde worlde feel about it that really suited me. This picture was done on A3 paper using coloured pencils. I’d like to thank Catherine Walker of Redbubble for suggesting the subject. • The Needles is a row of three distinctive stacks of chalk that rise out of the sea off the western extremity of the Isle of Wight, England, close to Alum Bay. A lighthouse designed by Scottish civil engineer James Walker has stood at the western end of the formation since 1859. / The formation takes its name from the former fourth needle-shaped pillar called Lot’s Wife that used to stand in its midst until it collapsed in a storm in 1764. The remaining rocks are all short and squat and not at all needle-like, but the name has stuck. / (Sourced from Wikipedia) I captured this image from the right seat in a 1960 Beech 33 Debonair as we did a clockwise circuit of the Isle of Wight before returning back across the New Forest for a landing at Old Sarum airfield. • 2 Little Egrets captured at Bembridge Harbour, Isle of Wight. I well remember the excitement when one was spotted about 10/12 years ago – they are now resident and increasing in numbers. Great news. Canon 400D, Sigma DG 70-300mm lens at 300mm. ISO 100, 1/400sec at f8. Captured in RAW and processed in CS3. Featured in “Changing Zoom Lenses” Group 3rd October 2009

  • A shot of The Needles taken on a recent trip to the Isle of Wight. Canon 400D, Sigma DG 70-300 Lens @ 70mm. ISO 100 at f22. 3 frame HDR, +2,0-2 EV’s tonemapped in Photomatix Pro 3.2.6 and CS4 132 views at 10/11/09 Featured in ‘Out of the Blue Group’ 30th October 2009 ! / MCN: CVUY4-PQR7K-3W8U5

  • This is my first attempt at a montage. I started with a RAW image taken of Winkle Street (Barrington Row, Calbourne, Isle of Wight) on a recent trip to the Isle of Wight. I converted to B&W and added layers and textures, added a lady and dog from a copyright free vintage photograph. I then sepia toned in an attempt to create an ‘old photograph’ I then added a border, self created and placed all on a black background to give an appearance of a photo album page. I hope you like it – I greatly enjoyed creating it. PLEASE VIEW LARGER Copyrighted with MyfreeCopyright.com Ref: / MCN: C4PDD-JU6VM-T4DSA
