With its picturesque villages, rare wildlife and breathtaking views of the Mourne mountains, the lough is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a hugely popular attraction for visitors from all over the world. People have been living around Strangford Lough for 9,000 years and there are ancient remains from prehistoric times. The Lough has been used by people for business and pleasure over the centuries.

A favorite image of mine for the message that it contained for me. A small island nearly swept over by the incoming tides as a small crack in the gathering storm allowed for a colorful sunset on this PAcific Ocean beach. An image with a message in it for me, for while the world can be swirling around you, your faith can be that refuge, that rock to grab onto as the world flies by you.

Giant Blue Clams from Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Indian Ocean Territories, Australia. The wonderful, luminous colours of the clams make them shine underneath the water. When snorkelling of diving in Cocos they are a wonder to see. The clams pictured above are reared beachside in a large salt water nursery. Visitors to the islands can visit the clam farm and learn more about these amazing creatures. This has been my most successful print to date. It won the Wildlife Category of the Expose Your World Photography Awards 2008 (national) and the Open Colour Section of the York Society Photography Awards 2008 (state), as well as a Highly Commended in the Melville Art Awards 2008 (state) and a Highly Commended in the ANZANG Nature Photography Awards 2008, Underwater category (national) and a Highly Commended in the Jan/Feb Fujifilm Showcase Photography Competition. It has also been published in “Camera Magazine” (Jan/Feb issue) . To take it I leant over the water to drop my shadow over the glare on the surface. Of course, the clams saw me do this and thought i was a predator, so they closed. I stood at an almost 90% angle for several minutes until they opened up again. I managed to take 3 frames before they sensed my movement and closed. Canon 5D, ISO 400, f8, AV MODE, 24-105MM L Series Canon Lens / Handheld, no flash, Auto White Balance. As is from camera. THIS WAS TAKEN IN ONE OF THE MOST CHARMING TOWNS I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF EXPERIENCING. IT IS CALLED OIA IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THE GREEK ISLAND CALLED SANTORINI. THE TOWN LITERALLY CASCADES DOWN TEH HILL.THE SUNSETS THERE ARE WORLD REKNOWNED AND I TOOK THIS ABOUT 20 MINUTES AFTER THE SUN HAD SET USING A 3 SECOND SLOW EXPOSURE ON A TRIPOD ATOP A CLIFF EDGE THAT I HAD TO RISK LIFE AND LIMB TO GET TO SO I COULD GET THE ANGLE I WANTED. TAKEN WITH A FUJI FILM S9600 *WINNER OF ‘DESTINATIONS’ CONTEST IN 100% GROUP!!

As cyclone Hamish approaches the Fraser Coast, the clouds turned rather erie, wind was picking up, and you got the feeling it’s time to move. First day using my Ultra Wide lens, Rainbow Beach, looking North over Fraser Island coastline. Canon 50D, 10mm ultra wide. Available very large, best viewed LARGE :)

Australian Sea Lion at Hopkins Island, South Australia / Sea Lions are Pinnipeds that is the same family as Seals and Walrus, but not exactly the same. / They are also mammals. / This SeaLion is endemic to Australia, that is it is only found in Australia. They are particularly found in South Australia and Western Australia. / As you can see they are very sociable and very curious.

The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by SBC, painting, and drawing. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda. It won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007.
