Liberty Island, NYC
Hey! Back off, buddy! That seagull is MINE!! Don’t you just hate it when other photographers invade on your territory? (all in good fun, guys :P)
Original Photo © jwarburton 07. Post work in PSP. Someone mentioned on another site that she remembers being asked a test question in grammar school, “does the Statue Of Liberty really have sandals on her feet?” Yes, she has sandals on her feet, she’s moving forward with one foot lifted. She has the mark of the early Romans (toes) still visible in many people today – second toe is longer than big toe and little toe is “hammered”. :) “Is the Statue of Liberty in New York or New Jersey?” The statue is part of New York Harbor and sits in Liberty State Park which is in Jersey City, New Jersey. The statue is actually in New Jersey. New York Harbor includes the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the first stop for all immigrants (1892 – 1954) who arrived in New York by boat. Roosevelt Island lies in the East River opposite the UN Buildings. It’s a relatively undeveloped area in the middle of Manhattan. This ruin is an unexpected treasure in the City. It’s hard to believe it is still there waiting for the inevitable development.

8/21/09 ~ Featured in Going Coastal ~ thank you very much!! Sunset over Calumet Island near Clayton New York. Calumet Island once had a castle on it. Today all that remains is the water tower, which has been converted to a light house. I was experimenting in Adobe Photoshop. I combined two sunset images from the Thousand Islands. I used the silhouette of Calumet Island and a sunset from two nights later to create this image. The sky is natural color. July 2009
The Coney Island Cyclone (better known as simply the Cyclone) is a historic Wooden roller coaster in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn, New York City.. I have yet to ride this beast… but it is definately on my list :).
Coney Island, a classic fun park in Brooklyn, NY is undergoing a transformation of sorts.. currently under new ownership (the Astroland section of the park closed last year…after this image was taken) – Some areas of the park…like the Cyclone and Wonderwheel will remain as they have been declared historic landmarks… but I’m not so sure about the Thunderbolt. They (being the purveyors of change) say that Coney Island will be bigger and better than ever before… but I tend to hold onto the past.
