My Long Tail boat..on another island around the fabulous South of Thailand :)) Image description speaks for itself.. One day…I ‘ll go back … Thankyou to Catherine Veal for describing this image as wonderfully as this :- Shangri-La is a fictional place described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by British author James Hilton. In the book, “Shangri-La” is a mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a lamasery, enclosed in the western end of the Kunlun Mountains. Shangri-La has become synonymous with any earthly paradise but particularly a mythical Himalayan utopia—a permanently happy land, isolated from the outside world. In the novel Lost Horizon, the people who live at Shangri-La are almost immortal, living years beyond the normal lifespan. The word also evokes the imagery of exoticism of the Orient.*
An acrylic painting, 26×36cm (10” x 14”) on 300 gsm watercolour paper of the boardwalk on Long Island, Australia. This long walk takes you down to the pier. Visitors to the Island are taken on trolley buses to their cabins which overlooks the amazing beach and water views. Time for a holiday! This was a painting of my husband walking down the boardwalk on our first visit to the island. Sunlight on our faces / steps taking us places / memories to treasure / nothing can measure / this paradise will forever hold / special moments that will be told… Featured in JPG CAST OFFS

Taken at Rhyll early in the morning when the tide was way out. On the way back from Cowes to Woolamai I thought I might stop by Rhyll as I had never been there before even after all the years we had a house there. I spotted this boat tied up in the mud and couldn’t resist a shot. My shoes sank into the mud real deep and had to give the tripod a good clean. Taken with my Canon 40D with polarising and graduated filters. This one was taken at popular surfing spot Cat Bay on the North West coast of Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia. Got here with the hope of getting some nice long exposures of the high tide coming in and then the clouds opened up… Taken with my Canon 40D and 10-22mm wide angle lens as well as poalrising, graduated and ND filters. Under the pier at Cowes, Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia at Dawn. Taken at the same time as Beginning of a new day for something a little bit different. It was pretty chilly, windy and way too early in the morning for me, it’s amazing how much lens distortion you get with a wide angle lens! / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. Early evening shot at the Port Fairy outflow pipe, Port fairy Victoria. The outflow goes beyond rock outcrops on Griffin Island, out through the cement structures that reach out into the ocean. Long exposure image taken with the Canon 400D, 18 -55 lens, CIR Polarising filter topped with an ND4.
An acrylic painting on canvas 40cm x 30cm. It was a beautiful day when we were there at tropical Long Island, Australia, which this painting is based on. The memory lingers on….. Sun on your face, a song in your heart / Spirits are lifted at nature’s art / All is quiet not even a sound / Only then you realise Sanctuary is found. What a magic and fabulous place to visit.
