Oh! Great Goddess! On this July Full Moon: I thank you / I bless you / I honour you With my mandala do I praise you! / Oh Great Goddess! / Goddess of Goddesses! / Goddess of the Moon / Known as Isis, Arinna, Istar, Astarte, Inanka, Tanit, Venus / Goddess of sexuality and warfare / The Light Bringer / Light of the World / Opener of the Womb / Lawgiver / Righteous Judge / Queen of Heaven She who Begets All Ishtar / I honour you / I thank you Recently, I was blessed… I give thanks and gratitude for that blessing and I honour the Goddess in all her aspects in this mandala. Acrylic on canvas. The moons are encircled by the symbol of Ishtar, represented in rainbow chakra points, including the eight chakra – white. The Goddess rising embraces the four directions, the four spiritual ways of my life. The owl of wisdom lies in the other four spiritual nodes. Encircled by the belt of Ishtar, lions rampant, lending courage, majesty, power and strength. Venus, my star, also rises in the rainbow… In HONOUR of women everywhere… / In GRATITUDE for all the blessings of my life… / With THANKS for the joy and love in my heart…

A storm that approached my home early last year, was fun to photograph as it developed. The sky at the time reminded me of the opening scenes of The Neverending Story. Opted to kneel and have the sky partially obscured by a native bush, quite bored of the typical sky pictures, think it adds a nice touch? Gives me the feeling of hiding in safety, peering out at the inevitable chaos approaching. When blown up the detail is incredible.

From the Istanbul Museum of the Ancient Orient. Circa 575 BC. Eighth gate to the inner city of Babylon known as the Ishtar gate – Darwaza D’Ishtar in Assyrian. A range of these glazed tile that the istanbul Museum of Archaeology house includes dragons and bulls (aurochs).
