  • A lone jogger runs in the early hours…..it is so quiet, serene as I listen to his steps fade into the dark arches of the bridge. / This is in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan…my home. / Done with a Pentax 1000 35mm.

  • My native stylistic rendition of a Polar Bear and her cubs using symbolic colours.

  • From a Vision Quest a shaman talks to the Sacred White Buffalo whose legends foretell the Natives’ Messiah in the 7th generation. *for Roger who inspired me with confidence.

  • A story illustration(look in my writing) of the first meeting with the Missionaries which was foretold hundreds of years before the actual event. After this encounter our ancient world was gone and we had to deal with the new one. Any culture must be dynamic, adapt or die.

  • A recent poem(of the same name) brought out this memory. This painting was done by my daughter and isn’t for sale. Just thought some will be interested – she’s my oldest. My yougest did some too, if any reply I can put them up temporarily(maybe for a week).

  • A painting making a statement of our climate change. Here the two Polars, one younger, cling onto a small ice sheet as it gets smaller. They have just swam 30 miles in search of food and are exhausted with no land or ice in sight.

  • I did this painting in very thick acrylics. I thought of the Fancy Dance competition with all their regalia then decided to use color theory in their dance outfits so the battle is just not in the dance but in the colors.

  • I did this when I was teaching youth-at-risk and got my students to ‘tag’ it. / It’s about how young people are dazzled by the lights then end up in the back alleys. Our program was to guide them in a positive manner through ART then take their discipline, confidence, talent, skills aquired to finishing what they left behind or lost. Majority who finished the course of 8 months went on to finsih their high school, entered Unversity or some college. These were tough street ‘kids’ who had talent in Art but never realized what they had; something that made them special and unique.

  • An abandoned delapitated house of warm memories.

  • our native species who are our messengers bringing messages from the supernatural world.

  • another native species.

  • Stylized native art of geese.

  • Owls are sacred in our culture. They cross over to the other world, come back and bring us messages, advice and warnings.

  • my current home….this was part of the “fog” series.

  • Somewhere in the 1800’s the Cree meet to plan raids on the Blackfoot Tribes who were historical enemies.

  • A Father brings his child back from residential school. From one of my stories in “Stories Moshum & Kokum Told Me”.

  • A horse stays with his rider as the wind howls somewhere on the prairies. The sun is starting to shine through but the end has already come. Blizzards and winter were unforgiving for those travelling.

  • This was a statement on how the Indigenous tribes were fooled in their negotiations for their land and treaties.

  • I painted this in oils, usually I use acrylics. This is from an small print that was so old it was falling apart. My Dad really liked it so I painted it to canvas and is about 3×3feet. I don;t know the story behind this image but i envisioned the 4 horsemen and the Apocolypse with the fourth horsemen yet to come.

  • A Shaman, Shapeshifter or Medicine Man shows his powers in a Sweatlodge Ceremony. Part of our culture and beliefs these symbols and ceremonies make us think inward reflecting on our selves, the world and the other world. dedicated to John Scott who inspired me to put these on clothing.

  • A contemporary depiction of a traditional Medicine Man or Shapeshifter and his metamorphosis from natural to supernatural. I used cubism to emphasize that change yet retaining a semblance of reality.

  • LLD4 .... home is more where the heart is and time brings you back. Taken at HRH Prince Charles’ Royal visit to Saskatoon where he was greeted at our National Heritage Park, “Wanuskewin”. There were more riders but i could only shoot this scene; wasn’t allowed into the other circle which was only for political dignitaries. Much pomp, pageant and regalia…....

  • acrylic on canvas – 5ftx4ft (cropped) Capturing a Native Pow-Wow Dancer in his movement and regalia. This is a Fancy Dance where they can improvise their ‘steps’ as long as they keep in time with the drums and end exactly when they do. These are huge competitions with thousands present and thousands at stake for the prize money.
