  • Next time you’re out at Mizen Head you might notice this abandoned boat lying upside down by the visitor center. I almost missed it but I looked back to get a shot of the cliffs in the background. This makes a nice foreground I think. Anyway, must have been an awful chore dragging that boat all the way up from the water. It was tiring enough pushing a buggy (and later carrying my bored baby) up from the bridge connecting the lighthouse to the mainland. It’s a beautiful location. If you’re in West Cork be sure to visit!

  • We visited Burnham Beeches last Friday afternoon, on a day when torrential rain was forecast but thankfully the weather forecast was completely wrong. This large forest close to the city of London is an amazing sight to behold with ancient trees, and at this time of year beautiful, vivid (eh Matt?) and colourful leaves that create a breathtaking canopy. When I saw the scene you see above my jaw dropped in astonishment and I had to take a few photos of it. This is definitely a photo I’ll be printing and hanging on my wall. I hope you like it too! Wikipedia says that: Burnham Beeches is an area of 540 acres (220 hectares) of ancient woodland, located close to Farnham Common, Burnham and Beaconsfield, in Buckinghamshire. It is approximately 20 miles (30 km) to the west of London, England.

  • Construction work on the new block on Half Moon Street, Cork nears completion and reflects the brightly lit houses on the far side of the River Lee and the looming grey storm clouds.

  • A farmer ploughing his field caught my attention while out driving with Adam (trying to get him to sleep, it worked!) / The farmer saw me and asked the usual “why are you photographing me?” question but was friendly enough. Plenty of work to be done anyway as he was only halfway through the field! When I saw the scene I pictured the contrasting bright and dark halves of the ground, but the day was so bright it was difficult to shoot the shadow close by me. I had to clone out a really annoying power line going right across the top half of the image too! Shot just outside Ballincollig in Co. Cork.
