One of our cats, Miss Blackie, who really is a princess of the dark She “adopted” us by coming to our backyard and eating from the compost heap…. so we began to feed her. She still is very shy, but comes in the house at night to be fed. So we have made a bit of progress. This image featured in the group Cats and Dogs, one image per day in September 2009. Many thanks!

Vincent’s Cat Recently I’ve been looking at Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings. I love his irises and wanted to paint some myself. Their complicated forms and brilliant deep blues captivated me. As some of you may know I have a fondness for cats. During my life I have had two exceptional ginger cats ‘Victor’ and ‘Mittens’ who were very dear to me; this is dedicated to their memory. Acrylic on canvas / Size: 30cm x 30cm Original SOLD
The title came to me whilst still in the early stages of working up this digital painting, because some of the way the lines were going reminded me of the colored striped and designs of war paint and such. I cannot remember, now, where I saw them, but, I saw some very beautiful paintings of Irises, fairly recently, and I spent a while working on my own to see where I could get to, along the same lines. Well, I did better than usual, but, not as good, I don’t think, as whomever that inspirational, if somewhat nameless in memory, artist did. My sister (the second eldest) painted me an iris, once, but involuntarily. Which is to say, she did not like it and wanted to paint over it, but she gave it to me instead. Which I’m very happy about as I love it. I love Irises. I don’t know if it’s true that they are my favorite flower, but, they are really right up there, and it might be true, for when I see the purple ones it makes me say “Ooh!” and get very happy, my heart beats faster, etc.
An escaped domestic bunny terrorized our gardens for a couple days. He was a cute guy but he liked eating my drip tubing and he had to go!
Frilly, flouncy irises always make me think of dancers so when I was trying to decide a name for this one, “Showdance” popped into my head! Watercolour on paper.
This one’s especially for LadyKisser Nikon D50 50mm f1.8 lens

A Siberian Iris in my backyard garden in northeast Iowa. Bloom time mid to late spring. Photo taken May 31, 2009. / ! /
I took this picture along the banks of a lake at Jefferson Island in Iberia Parish. I have applied several layers and textures to give it more of a painted canvas look.

Delicate Irises. Original Art by Angela F. Watercolour on Watercolour Paper. This is a portion of the whole painting, because I must scan it in four pieces and then patch the pieces together, which I cannot do in this heat because it makes the computer crash.
