I finally got to paint this from my digital manipulation, Don’t Give Up Searching . I’m so pleased with the result. I used a few different textures and oil paint and made the eye brown rather then blue so that the image was unified in pallet to suit a college project so that I could paint this particular piece without abandoning duty.

Vincent’s Cat Recently I’ve been looking at Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings. I love his irises and wanted to paint some myself. Their complicated forms and brilliant deep blues captivated me. As some of you may know I have a fondness for cats. During my life I have had two exceptional ginger cats ‘Victor’ and ‘Mittens’ who were very dear to me; this is dedicated to their memory. Acrylic on canvas / Size: 30cm x 30cm
A simple flag Iris- Love the shape and beauty of irises! Secretive flowers- hiding their inner, sensitive, intiguing inner parts. You’ll all think ‘that woman’s gone bonkers.’ However I have a serious love affair with all things that come from the earth. Natures bounty a joy to behold. It gives me great pleasure to watch things grow- hopefully this’ll give you pleasure too! /

A black and white with vignetting version of my image of Port Fairy Lighthouse. This is one of my all time favourite photographs so I thought I would share it. It was taken on a point and shoot about 3 years ago so is not available for larger prints. The flowers in the foreground of this photo have a story of their own. The bulbs of the irises were planted by the first lighthouse keepers in the garden of the long since ruined keepers house. All that remains of the house is a portion of the garden. The iris bulbs come up every spring as a reminder of what once was. Colour version is also available. This is how it looks in card form: I have this image on my wall using a black matte and charcoal frame which looks absolutely amazing and sets off the black and white image well.

Chinese Water Dragon – Physignathus cocincinus.
Completed in 2004, age 17 This is a slightly cropped version of the original, due to the limits of my camera. My original signature got cropped out so I had to insert a new one in photoshop; in the original it is not actually located there. Original size: (40” x 30”) The two subjects are posed in similar positions, each having a dark, circular central focus., Both images have lines above and surrounding the centres, which draw attention towards the centres. The vertical composition help strenghten the feeling of height given by the vertical lines. Both subjects are organic, however one, the eye, has straight lines and geometrical shapes, while the rose has curvy lines and organic shapes. In the eye, the centre is literally dark, while in the flower the darkness is created by shadows. When I got my Canon PowerShot A640 in the early Summer of 2007 I started taking various shots in the backyard. This image of a purple Iris was one of the first macro shots I had ever taken, and definitely one of my most popular images here on RedBubble. It was named Iris’ Tongue because it looked to me like it was sticking out it’s “tongue”. / / “Iris’ Tongue II” has been shown as a part of the Flower Power Project Exhibition in Frisco, Texas. / / “Iris’ Tongue II” is available in all print formats offered by RedBubble. / / / / / / / / Check out more of my art from these categories: / Holiday Cards / Abstracts / Sketches / Birds / Seascapes/Landscapes/Sunsets / / / _____________ /
Here’s is an Iris from my garden. I got bored and had a play with the colours, would love to hear some opinions!
/ This is a photograph of my eye that I played around with in Photoshop & other programs such as HDR. This picture has been nominated in the Pay It Foward group (forums) by my father A90Six. This is he said: “This is a fantastic shot, executed well and finished wonderfully. this is a great piece of work for an artist of any age, but for a ten year-old it’s even more amazing. Ok! Hands up! He is my son! That said, he is just ten years-old. He has a great ‘eye’ for photography. He has his own camera (an old one of mine) He sets up the camera and the shot himself, does his own lighting, and works out the angles and compositions he wants. He does all his own post editing including HDR work, Orton effects and Photoshop. He is allowed to ask me how to do things if he’s not sure, but he has to do it. His remit is that his work not only has to look good to him, but he has to think they are good enough to sell before they can be uploaded to RB.” Featured In: My Child’s Art / Eye Macros / Accentuate The Eyes
