When I got my Canon PowerShot A640 in the early Summer of 2007 I started taking various shots in the backyard. This image of a purple Iris was one of the first macro shots I had ever taken, and definitely one of my most popular images here on RedBubble. It was named Iris’ Tongue because it looked to me like it was sticking out it’s “tongue”. / / “Iris’ Tongue II” has been shown as a part of the Flower Power Project Exhibition in Frisco, Texas. / / “Iris’ Tongue II” is available in all print formats offered by RedBubble. / / / / / / / / Check out more of my art from these categories: / Holiday Cards / Abstracts / Sketches / Birds / Seascapes/Landscapes/Sunsets / / Subscribe to art updates / Subscribe to T-shirt updates / Become a fan on FaceBook / Add me as a friend on FaceBook / Follow me on Twitter _____________ /
Taking a good close look at the inner world of flowers and such never disappoints me. There’s always beauty I would have sadly missed had I not done so.

Taken in early June in my garden with the Nikon D40x, using the 60mm macro lens. I’d just gotten the macro lens and was like a kid in a candy store for weeks … nothing escaped me!!!! SOOO much fun!!! Today (December 2, 2008) is a dark, gray winter’s day with lots more days like it ahead of us. As I combed through my photos this afternoon, trying to create order out of chaos, I stumbled over this shot and decided the day needed some brightening!!! For all my dear friends who are struggling with troubles and worries … I hope this brings a sparkle to your hearts!! this iris bloom is about 3 or 4 inches high.
Once the iris arrive, you know Spring is here! Their frilly petals fairly dance in the breeze as they show off their beauty! If you would like a fine art print, 8-1/2”x 11”, please contact me through Bubblemail. Watercolor 8-1/2”x 11” on Arches 140 Cold Press
Tacoma, Washington / Point Defiance Park Last Spring, the warmer weather arrived late with much cooler and rainier conditions in the gardens. At the Point Defiance Park Garden show, the days were quite rainy. We walked the extensive gardens wearing raincoats and carrying our umbrellas to keep us from getting totally soaked. Although most of us would not be out in such weather to admire the flowers, I actually found it quite magical and the flowers looked very fresh and happy. Blooms May and early June, at the absolute height of Springtime.
The same Iris in macro and another angle this was still when I was getting used to my sigma lens and finding out how to work it at it’s best – this was also taken in a hanger so there was no lighting inside, and no flash fired and manual focus it’s all about experimenting and seeing what works thanks to all the positive comments you have made I feel that maybe this is a worthy “pair” now!
