  • Landscape taken on the ‘Ring of Kerry’ – (Ireland) july 2007.

  • A back catalogue landscape, which if I recall correctly, was taken in Co. Sligo, Ireland, not far inland from the west coast. It shows Ben Bulben, I am told. I would be interested to hear serious critique of this earlier work from 2002.

  • Featured in Dilapidated Buildings 25th November, 2008. This church in Doon, Ballybunion closed it’s doors to its congregation a few short years after the new, St John’s, church opened in the town centre on 1st August, 1897. The parish could not afford to keep two churches going. / Doon church is used these days as a storage building for farm equipment.

  • Spanning a chasm some eighty feet deep is the famous Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge located on the North Antrim coast a few miles from the Giants Causway. It’s construction once consisted of a single rope hand rail and widely spaced slats which the fishermen would traverse across with salmon caught off the island. • This was shot from the first little cove just down the hill from the Giant’s Causeway visitors center. Looking north into the North Channel just after the sun had set. Body: Canon 20D / Lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 II / Accessories: Tripod, GND 0.6 soft edge filter North Channel, Northern Ireland was featured in the group: Nowhere Like Northern Ireland

  • County Donegal, Ireland, near the border with Derry. / Across the Universe From “Across the Universe” by the Beatles “Images of broken light which / dance before me like a million eyes / That call me on and on across the universe / Thoughts meander like a / restless wind inside a letter box / they tumble blindly as / they make their way across the universe” / Nikon D50

  • Enagh Lough, Derry, Northern Ireland. Lough – a body of water such as an inlet of the sea or, as in this case, a lake. / / Fuji Finepix s9600

  • Self-portrait with Kerry landscape. Monochrome pastel and charcoal on Stonehenge paper, 14×11”

  • MUSIC Nikon D50 18-55mm lens Derry, Northern Ireland. This is more or less the same view. In this one I love the light on the fields. Don’t worry about commenting, I’m thinking about a calendar with these. /

  • County Donegal, Ireland. / Orton effect applied /

  • Featured in All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical 21st December, 2008. Moonlight in Mulranny. Mulranny is a small town in County Mayo on the west coast of Ireland. As with several Irish placenames, it has in recent years undergone a change in spelling reverting back to a former variation. It is now generally spellt Mallaranny, but can also be found as Mullranny and Malaranny. / The town sits on the coastline of Clew Bay. Clew Bay is said to have 365 islands (one for each day of the year). Some are inhabted by small populations and others are used for grazing sheep and cattle. / As can be seen in this shot, at low tide one could walk across the wet sands to the islands. Cattle can be seen wading through the shallows going back and foth from the mainland to the islands. / This is a shot of the view behind my Aunt’s house, taken one night on the way home from the pub. Camera always handy, I set it atop a gate post for stability, set the timer, etc., and it didn’t turn out too bad considering I was three sheets to the wind at the time.

  • Buncrana, County Donegal, Ireland. On the shore of Lough Swilly. / Nikon D50, 50mm f1.8 lens

  • Lough Swilly, County Donegal, Ireland. An inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. / Fujifilm finepix s9600 and polariser filter A beautiful poem, kindly written for this image by my good friend, David Roman. Please visit David’s site and view his beautiful art. / David Roman “The sky lies there before our eyes the world is out there too. / All that I see is a bright new life with you beside me, my wife. / I look at you and say lets go and find a brand new world. / An you my ever thoughtful half say lets stay here, where we are. / We have a life just you an I and all that we have here. / Why venture out to look for more when all we need is here? / Look out my love what do you see out beyond your dreams. / Its you and I an all we need and thats not very far. / Just look at what you want to leave, will you find that in a far off land? / Will sky’s be filled with so much blue like sky’s before my eyes? / Will we have all that we need like we have right here. / Like comfort in the love of family an from all our friends? / Built on years of trust and tears you’d leave that my dear? / Or will we have to search for friends in a place unknown. / I dare not venture out to seek a better land than this, an leave our friends behind. / When all I need is you my love and all that we have here!”

  • It is a little know fact that the Jason and the Argonauts, those famous sailors of Greek mythology, once landed on the coast of Ireland. As they searched the world for the Golden Fleece, Jason was told by an unknown minstrel with a bit of a brogue, that Irish sheep are very easy to capture, being as the minute an oncoming car or truck appears on the horizon, said sheep promptly make themselves comfortable in the middle of the road. They refuse to move until shifted. Happy Days, thought Jason, if the Fleece is there, we’ll find it in no time; if not, we’ll be sure of a good Irish stew. / If you don’t believe me, look at this photo carefully. There is the mighty ship the Argo, bathing in the glow of an Irish sunset. The ship is from one of my own photos taken in Greece. It was cut out and merged with a sunset shot I took in Donegal. Levels and curves used to darken, and Orton effect applied.

  • River Crana, Buncrana, County Donegal Ireland. / HDR processing / Nikon D50 18-55mm lens

  • End of April 2009, Donegal hills, Ireland. There are many examples of this bleak beauty in the Irish landscape. It’s something I am very attracted to, especially in Connemara, and here in Donegal. This image turned out quite brown, which I like, but I wanted to practise dodging and burning, so I used this photo. I’ve tried to be subtle, but will not be offended if you have any criticisms. I’ll just got to my room, close the door, and howl! Only kidding! Canon EOS 450D 18-55mm lens

  • Oils on canvas. A different view of Kilrush. This was probably one of the most difficult paintings to do. The lovely, town of Kilrush, County Clare (my Irish hometown) with little details that took many hours to paint with a two-hair brush and a magnifying glass! Best viewed large.

  • Sunset over Lough Swilly, County Donegal, Ireland. A rainy day, with some bright spots. Summer 2009 / A little tonemapping, Orton effect, and some added film grain (because I like this filter). Canon EOS 450D, 18-55mm lens

  • 2009 featured in / Gateways on 10/09

  • 2009 featured in / Nautical on 11/09

  • Sunset shot on Christmas Eve 2009 in fields near my home. It had been a beautiful day but really cold with frost, mist and lingering snow. / Canon 5D mkII 24-70 f2.8L. 3 stop ND grad.

  • / Featured in Dimensions on December 30th, 2009 Mystical nights when the frost in combination with a faint moon covers everything in a soft blue shine. Picture was taken at Lough Corrib in Ireland, county Galway. / I have added textures in post processing to reduce the dull sky due to fog Thanks for watching!!!!!

  • Today was another gorgeous day / Bitterly cold, lots of frost, so I thought I would take a little tour over what I call ‘my’ mountain, which is situated in Connemara, between Oughterard and Casla. It is a mountain road of approximately 30 km full of extra ordinary views of The Twelve Bens (the Twelve Pins) , the famous mountain range in Connemara with its 12 peaks. This is a partial view of those peaks. The seaside of ‘my’ mountain was fine to drive on, the Oughterard side turned out to be a bit treacherous when I got stranded in the snow. I ended up behind a lorry that got stuck, and spent 1,5 hours waiting for help to arrive and dig us out. Was great fun though, and I will upload a couple of snow pictures later. The ‘help troopers’ brought hot chocolate to drink and the lorry driver, who actually collected dead animals and transported them, had loads of silly stories to tell during our waiting hours. This is a HDR out of 3 bracketed images. Hope you like it.
