Hello and welcome to all Red Bubblers in this group! I am really excited about reading, exploring and debating artistic pieces of work that are so typical of so many talented writers on RB. A few house rules: (1) Let’s try to keep it to 1-2 downloads per person on a daily basis to allow the work to be viewed and not flood the group page please. / (2) Have fun and be as creative as you like / (3) When commenting or feeding back remember to be sensitive – artists are sensitive people! / (4) Any queries about the group – send me a Bubblemail and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. / (5) Any ideas or suggestions – I’m all ears Most of all enjoy! Here’s to an unfolding magical journey of creativity and the inspiration that comes with being part of such a wonderful group of people! Suzanne
This is a Gulf fritillary and I was very surprised when I saw her flitting about today…I just had to rush outside and crouch down, roll on the ground and stalk her..:) Well stalking is a strong word…...
To put it simply, Echo is a geek. She plays games, hacks into things, and buys any game related object and shirt. However she’s quite a fighter, and while being shy doesn’t stop her yelling at people if they anger her, which would usually be followed by a punch to the face, but hey, it was their fault for provoking her. / And if she can’t beat you up herself, she’ll get her big brother Reichi to do it for her. I have to admit, I love the way the shoes came out XD / EDIT: I’ve made the picture smaller and moved it up, applied a shadow and also lightened it.
Those that own a Nintendo Wii will know how much fun there is trying to create your own Miis to look like famous people. The early Beatles, circa 1967/68 and the Sgt Pepper album seemed to lend themselves well to the Mii treatment, so Let Me Introduce You To, The act you’ve known for all these years…
This was a spilt second shot….. “spirit” just paused for a second in the shade before moving forward with just his head in the sun, i had my camera and was just in time to catch him for this capture. Spirit is another of our amazing lovable horses. / /
Wrestling Mongooses…..... (-: Mongooses live in Asia, Africa, and southern Europe, as well as some Caribbean islands, where they are introduced species. Mongooses mostly feed on insects, crabs, earthworms, lizards, snakes, chickens, and rodents. However, they also eat eggs and carrion. Some species, such as the Indian Mongoose, are popularly used to fight and kill venomous snakes, even king cobras. Some species of mongoose are fairly intelligent and can be taught simple tricks, which has led to a number of them being domesticated, often kept as pets to control vermin.

Under the sea, roams a four ton (3630 kgs) humpback whale full of playful fun…this rambunctious humpback whale calf considered our little group of snorkelers as his own personal “rubber duckies” in the shallow waters of the Dominican Republic’s Silver Bank. He played with us for hours, swimming close enough to touch us (literally!) while his mother napped below us, her reverie broken every 25” when she surfaced for a breath. This protected marine area is known as the Sanctuary For The Marine Mammals Of The Dominican Republic, including the waters of the Dominican Republic’s Silver Bank, Navidad Bank and Semana Bay. Located approximately 80 miles (approximately 123 kms) to the north of the Caribbean island nation of the Dominican Republic, the Silver Bank plays host to several thousand North Atlantic migrating humpback whales every year during the northern hemisphere’s winter months. Mother whales swim here from the cold nutrient-rich waters of the North Atlantic Ocean to bear their young as well as mate with hopeful males. Waters of the Silver Bank are relatively warm and shallow, about 60 feet deep (18 meters) on average, ideal for birthing humpback young. Additionally, the Silver Bank is a virtual underwater desert, devoid of rich schools of fish that would otherwise attract predators. This is a perfect environment in which to bring a baby whale into the world. Surface activity among competitive males hoping for a chance to mate ranges from breaching to pectoral slaps to tail lobs and slaps, all of it quite exciting. Yet the experience of being able to slip into the water with relaxed mothers, their calves and sometimes male escorts takes whale watching to new heights, inspiring emotions ranging from awe to sheer unadulterated joy. The humpback whale is classified as an endangered species. Threats to its survival include commercial whaling and boat strikes as well as entanglement in fishing gear, most commonly nets and fishing lines. The ancestors of the beautiful Protea dates back to approximately 100 million years ago, and they are considered among the oldest families of plants on earth. Carl Linnaeus, the father of modern botany and plant taxonomy named this flower in 1735, after the Greek God, Proteus. In Greek mythology, Proteus had the ability to change shape and form at his will; hence the name given to these flowers with their diverse array of colours, shapes, textures and sizes. The average size of the flowering blossom is 6-8 inches, although I have seen some fully opened which are almost 12 inches. They are large and sensationally beautiful. © 2009 Fine Art Photography by Sharon Mau / Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi / Shooting Date/Time 27 May 2008 17:51:37 / Tv 1/250 Av 4.5 Exposure Compensation -2/3 / ISO 200 Lens EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM / Focal Length 56.0 mm Protea cynaroides / Common Name: King Sugar Bush “The King Protea was originally from the Cape Town area of South Africa. It is actually the national flower of South Africa. Today King Proteas may be found all over the world where the atmosphere is dry and the soil has good drainage. They thrive upcountry in cooler temperatures on the western slopes of Haleakala here on Maui. The flower of the King Protea may be as large as 12 inches across. On the outside it has many stiff, pointed, narrow bracts, or petals, that give it the appearance of a cup. The bottom half of the petals starts out cream coloured or yellow, which transforms into bright pink or velvet red on the top half. Inside the cup is a mass of white stamen about 1-2 inches long which all curve towards the centre. The leaves look like flat spoons, or paddles, which grow alternately along the several stems of the plant. They are thick and stiff and round in appearance. Their petioles (leaf stems) are quite long, about 1-2 inches. Protea take moisture in through its leaves. The lovely Protea are valued for their decorative qualities. They dry very well and are commonly used as focal pieces in flower arrangements. It is said that Protea leaves are also used to make tea. Proteas live in a fragile environment. Of the 370 protea species, about 120 of them are listed as endangered. There are very few wild proteas anymore, most of them are now cultivated in greenhouses or nurseries.” Text by by Ben S. 2000
