Featuring my daughter Siena, Bored Intersection is one of those moments you get when travelling overseas with small children. Resting on a balustrade with head in arm, she gathers some momentum before propelling her small frame onward. What you find fascinating doesn’t actually connect with a six year old – “What you mean all those beautiful perfectly placed graphic signs aren’t doing it for you…. I ask politely?”

If you look closely you can see two trains in this one. Firstly there is the blur of one on the left track heading away from the camera and then there is one approaching on the right track. I’ve deliberately left in it’s yellow light beam… Can you see them try viewing it large.. This was taken on the same night as Departure /

WOW! Just landed at Heathrow airport on the way to Milan, and logged on to my favourite website, and before I had a chance to order a drink – I was amazed at the awesome comments on “Bored Intersection” – I couldn’t believe it… very much appreciated, especially the comment on the water reflection on the hand rail…. I know this sounds a little corny but I feel you guys are travelling with me… Lovin’ the comments along the way and lovin’ the RedBubble thing with a passion… thanks for the great support and there is nothing more exciting than sharing you creative work with like minded people. I will be stuck in a small Italian village for the next week, hoping for a internet connection there, but not holding my breath…

Pitt Street Mall, Sydney. The title of this photo is derived from how the purposes of four strangers in the city intersected with each other for a mere fraction of time. They have never met each other before; and after this instant probably never would.

A rare success in the photography genre known as “simultaneously panning and zooming at an object moving at an angle to you”. I was pretty happy with how this turned out based on the hit-or-miss (mainly miss) style of shooting employed. Actually, I’m happy to say: give me a camera and an intersection, and I’ll be happy to just hang and chill and watch the world go by, while you do whatever it is you want to do….

A Canadian Pacific train traveling east to Montreal, Canada on a summer day. When I was shooting this the horn blasted and I could feel the ground shaking, an unnerving sensation. As powerful as it was, the surrounding by contrast was amazingly calm.

Intersections. I like trees of all kinds but where I live the Moreton Bay Fig Tree is always a huge tree that demonstrates natures power and the will to live and thrive. / Their knotted root systems have always grabbed my attention – they are very free-form and abstract

Intersection was shot in RAW with a Canon EOs 10D with 28-90mm zoom at 28mm. In normal life it is hanging roots of a Moreton Bay fig tree planted by my father in 1965 in our backyard in Sydney. Best viewed in large size _______ ______

One of a series of images experimenting with overlapping shapes. / Originally drawn by hand with pencil on paper, whilst riding the train. / I then scanned the sketch and placed it in Adobe Illustrator as a guide and replicated the shapes and then coloured them. / I’m interested in optical art, negative/positive space, patterns, repetition and related ideas.
