One of the stranger graffiti locations in Melbourne, this was taken in Presgrave Place just near Little Collins Street in the city. There are many of these picture frames littered all over the wall with portrait photographs of women. Background Information: / The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided gorge carved by the Colorado River in the U.S. state of Arizona, and parts of Nevada. It is largely contained within the Grand Canyon National Park — one of the first national parks in the United States. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery. Longstanding scientific consensus has been that the canyon was created by the Colorado River over a period of six million years, but research released in 2008 suggests a much longer 17 million year time span. The canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles (6.4 to 29 km) and attains a depth of more than a mile (1.6 km). The Marina Barrage (Chinese:滨海堤坝) is a dam in Singapore built across the Marina Channel between the reclaimed lands of Marina East and Marina South. It was officially opened on 1 November 2008. The Marina Barrage was conferred the Superior Achievement Award – the highest honour of the competition for the best project entry – at the AAEE Annual Awards Luncheon held in Washington, DC, USA on 6 May 2009. The Marina Barrage beat 33 other entries to take home the top prize in this year’s competition organised by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers (AAEE), becoming the second project outside of USA to win the award, in the last decade. The S$226 million project turns Marina Bay and Kallang Basin into a new downtown freshwater Marina Reservoir. It provides water supply, flood control and a new lifestyle attraction. This structure will provide flood control by changing the tide flow into the barrage. The flood control is necessary due to the fact that Singapore receives over 100 inches of rain. The station has several notable features. In can pump up to 6.3 billion gallons of water per day. The barrage also allows for a consistent water level regardless of tidal flows. The facility also has a 13-megawatt power generation station. The building of the Marina Barrage required the relocation of Clifford Pier from Collyer Quay to Marina South (see Marina South Pier). It is open for viewing 24/7. However, the information counter is only open from 10.00am to 6.00pm. Tours for a maximum capacity of 80 people to the Visitor Centre can be arranged prior to arrival. Kahului means “the winning” and was founded in the 1850’s. This is a panoramic image, a stitch of two portrait images one over the other of an interior view of Queen Ka’ahumanu Center, a shopping mall which is an architectural wonder. You may see the sky, feel the tropical breezes and often see the ocean depending upon where you are standing on the second floor. Here I am facing the North Shore and those are beautiful living Palm trees on the lower level. I took these images Christmas 2008, the shooting date was 30 December 2008. I use The Panorama Factory V5 (m32) software to create my panoramic images. Queen Ka’ahumanu Center is located in Kahului on Maui. Hawaiian Encyclopedia The center is named after Hawai’i’s beloved Queen Ka‘ahumanu (c.1768-1832) who was born on Maui. The mall is near the Kahului Airport, Kahului Harbor and the Maui County seat of Wailuku. The historic site was the center of the Kahului Village plantation camp in the early 1900s.
