I was trying to work out how to add a hperlink to my photographs. I finaly figured it out, so if you want to know how to do it, follow the instructions below. It is a little complicated, but like all things, with a bit of practice, it will become easier. First, lets look at the example. This gives me to an opportunity to shamlessly showcase my own work. Hey come one, I’m proud of my work (as I know you are all proud of your own work), so I’m happy to take any opportunity to stick my work under your noses. (While you are looking, just think: MUST BUY TOM’S WORK, MUST BUY TOM’S WORK, MUST BUY TOM’S WORK). First, I want you to go visit my Profile Page to see the example. Details are below, but before you go there, read on: Once you reach my Profile Page, just scroll down a little and you will see a number of my favourite shots in frames (down the left-hand side). Just click your left mouse-button on any of these pictures and you will be taken to the shot of your choice. Just click on the following link to go to my Profile page: Tom’s Profile Page and test out my hyperlinks. OK, if you would like to do something similar then here we go: You need to look at my previous Journal entry Adding a frame around your pictures. This will give you the method for making the framed pictures. Now we need to add the Hyperlink to the framed pictures. The method is as follows: / It is best to create your links in the Notepad application on your PC. I need to explain it, because if I type it here exactly as you need to do, RedBubble will convert the link into a real Hyperlink in my Journal page. Type an exclamation mark (!) Then paste the URL for the framed picture directly after the exclamation mark (make sure you have no spaces). Type another exclamation mark (!) Follow this with a full-colon (:) Next, in RedBubble, you need to go to the Public View of the picture you want to link to. Copy the URL (It is at the top of the screen and starts with http://) into your mouse buffer (highlight the URL, right-click your mouse and select Copy from the list that appears). Paste this URL directly after the full-colon (remember, NO spaces). In simple terms: The hyperlink element (the URL pointing to the picture) that you want to see on the page must be enclosed in a set of exclamation marks (!) At the end of this element, you need to type a full-colon (:) Next thing you need is the pointer (the URL of where you want to point – this can be a picture or a web page) If you want to use a text label (rather than a picture), you will need to enclose the text in double-quotes (“), the software will add an underline so you can see it is a hyperlink. (You are allowed spaces in a text label, but not at the beginning or end of the text). Examples (you would need to fill in the URL information, and remove all superfluous spaces): Text example / ” text you want to see ” : URL of picture or web page you want to hyperlink to Picture example / ! URL of picture you want to see ! : URL of picture or web page you want to hyperlink to So, to recap: / – exclamation mark (for a picture) or double-quote (for text) / – URL for the framed picture (or the text you want to use) / – exclamation mark (for a picture) or double-quote (for text) / – full-colon / – URL for your final picture Once you have typed it all into Notepad, highlight all of the text and copy it to your mouse buffer. Go to the Edit Your Profile page and scroll down to the About you entry area. Paste the copied link into this window. Think about where you want it to appear in your profile page and paste it at that point. Repeat the process for as many of your pictures as you need (with a blank line between each), then, when you are finished, scroll to the bottom of the Edit Your Profile page and press the Save Changes button. That should be it. Now you can go to your Profile page and check that it all worked. This example shows how to turn a framed picture into a hyperlink, but the method can be applied to any of the other types of pictures in RedBubble Let me know if you have any problems. Step 1… Get Template. Go to the Add a T-shirt Design and Click on the Highlighted T-shirt Template. A box will pop up for File Download. Click on Save and name your file (Save it to where you can find it). / Step 2… Open up your photoshop and find the Template and then decide what art you would like to put on a t-shirt. (I am only teaching you how to put a full page of art on a template as it is easier for us both). / Step 3.. You should have both the Template Opened up and the Art you want to Trasfer. Now resizing your art to fit on the Template. While on the Template… Go to Image (top right) then Resize and then Image Size. Once you are there you should see these image sizes… Top of page should say 22m… Next Row… width 2400 pixels.. Height… 3200 pixels… width 33.333 inches… Height 44.444 inches… and Resoulution will be 72 pixels/inches. Now you have the sizes and now you can make sure your art fits this size. It can be smaller but no larger than these sizes. / Step 4… Transfering art to the Template. After you have resized the art to fit on the template you now need to do a Select and then All (top left) after you do this you Click on Edit (top left) and then Copy. Now go to the template and do a Edit and then Paste. The art should be on the template now all you have to do is Go to Layers (top right) Now Click on the Template Layer on the small drop down then Click on Layer (top left) and then Click on Delete Layer. This gets rid of the RB grid. / Step 5… Now all you have to do is a Save As and rename the file. Also when you go to close the template and art do not save changes when closing template so you can reuse it again and again. You can also resize your art before closing or save it as the new size. / I hope this helps! I have organised my pictures into Category pages linked from the Profile page by hyperlinks. If you want to know how to do it, follow the instructions below. Just click on any link, for example, click on Santorini, and you will be taken to a Category Page containing small versions of my Santorini pictures. On this page, you just need to click on any of the small pictures to be taken to the real page for that picture. Just click on the following link to go to my Profile Page: Tom’s Profile Page and test out my hyperlinks. OK, if you would like to do something similar then here we go: The method is as follows: / It is best to create your links in the Notepad application on your PC. CAUTION: / If you are using a text editor to creat your links, DO NOT USE A RICH TEXT EDITOR like MSWord as the double quotes will not work in redbubble. MSWord will produce curly double quotes (like this: “ ”). You MUST have straight double-quotes (like this: ” “). Look closely, there is a difference. Category Pages make use of the Tags that you add to your pictures when you upload them. In my Santorini example, I wrote the word santorini in the Tags entry area on the Edit page when I added the artwork to RedBubble. If you have not done this already, then you can add an appropriate tag via the Edit page for each of your pictures and save the edit. Once you have the Tags in place, you can now construct the Category Page hyperlinks. Type a double-quote (“) Then the name that you want to use in the hyperlink (make sure you have no spaces). Type another double-quote (“) Then a full-colon (:) Then http://www.redbubble.com/people/ Then your name – this is the name that you are called in RedBubble (in my case, it is tomg) Then /art/everything/tags/ Then the tag you want to point to – in my example, this would be santorini It should look something like this: / ” Santorini ” : http://www.redbubble.com/people/tomg/art/everything/tags/santorini / But without the spaces. You can then repeat this for each hyperlink you want to construct. Remember to change the tag at the end (change santorini for another tag). If you want the hyperlinks to be on separate lines, then just type them that way (with a carriage return between each entry). If you want the hyperlinks to appear on the same line, then you could insert a space between each hyperlink or some other character or characters to separate the hyperlinks. I use .. To make this spacer, or something similar: After your hyperlink, insert a space Type an asterisk Type the character(s) you want to use – in my case .. Type an asterisk – the asterisks at either end just make it appear bold on the page Insert a space before the next hyperlink. Be careful about how many hyperlinks you put on one line. There is not a lot of room to work with and your hyperlinks will wrap over lines if you make the line to long. Once you have typed it all into Notepad, highlight all of the text and copy it to your mouse buffer. Go to the Edit Your Profile page and scroll down to the About you entry area. Think about where you want the hyperlinks to appear in your Profile Page and paste the copied text into this window at that point. When you are finished, scroll to the bottom of the Edit Your Profile page and press the Save Changes button. That should be it. Now you can go to your Profile page and check that it all worked. Right click on the photo. In the pop-up box, click on “properties” (at the bottom). The “Properties” box will pop up – highlight the address (URL) . {Click & drag will highlight the entire address} IMPORTANT: Be sure to highlight the entire address – only two lines will be visible, but if a third line of the address hidden, be sure you drag down to highlight all lines of the address. To copy the URL address, press Ctrl-C (press the control key and the “C” key at the same time). You won’t see anything happen on the screen, but that is fine. Click OK to close the “Properties” box. Open “edit your profile” (or any other location where you want your pic to be visible). Press Ctrl-V (press control key and the “V” key at the same time). You should see the URL address. On one page go to Mybubble / 3. account / 4. Edit you profile / 5. Scroll down to About You box (this is where you will be adding / all of your stuff…. / 6. NOW…Leave that page as it is and go to the other one you have / pulled up. / 7. click Mybubble / 8. Now you will see a bar of things listed for you to use / 9. Ex.. activity,groups,account,art,clothing,writing,calendars,journal, / watchlist,favorites,promote and bubblmail / 10. You click on Art / 11. This will bring you up to all of your work that you have added to / Redbubble… / 12. Ex… of adding one and you can do this to however many you want. / 13. Say you want to add the first one on your list / 14. You will go beside that photo and click on Show public View / 15. Now, click on Buy/Preview / 16. Now… You should see cards,matted,laminated,mounted etc…. / 17. I usually pick laminated, but you can use any of them that you / prefer… / 18. Click on the one you prefer to add to your profile page / 19. I recently had several requests for instructions on how to add buttons like the ones in my profile. Rather than send individual bubblemail messages, I’m posting it in my journal in case someone else would like to add buttons to their RB profile. BUTTON INSTRUCTIONS Tip: print out this page and put it beside the computer before you start. You can make your own buttons or you can use a site called ButtonGenerator. If you decide to use this site and not to pay for a membership, you will need to add a link back to the site. I made all of mine 125X26 to give you some idea of the size of the ones on my page. This size allowed 3 buttons side-by-side. Make all your buttons and then save them in a folder on your computer. Then you will need to upload each button to your RB image gallery and use the “Hide” feature so that no one sees them but you. Once you have them uploaded you will need to right-click on each one to get the url address html code in the properties box. Example: http://images-0.redbubble.net/img/art/size:ularge/view:main/1407403-1-autumn-button.jpg Then go to “Edit Your Profile” to copy the image html code AND the tag html code – it will look like this (without the spaces): ! http://images-0.redbubble.net/img/art/size:ularge/view:main/1407403-1-autumn-button.jpg ! : http://www.redbubble.com/people/patmonty/art/everything/tags/autumn [REMEMBER NO SPACES. I had to add spaces so you could see the html code. If I had not added spaces, the button would have appeared in the journal instead of the code.] The last word in the html code is the “tag” word. In the example above it is autumn. You will need to put one space between each set of button html code. If you have a lot of buttons the language is long and wraps around forever. But with one space between each button html code, the buttons will sit next to other and then wrap to the next line. This tutorial is mainly for the bubblers that are new to navigating the RB site. The calendars are quite easy to create. The most important thing to remember is that all images must meet the following requirements. Even one pixel below these numbers and it won’t work. 2182 by 1906 pixels for the main pages / 3271 by 2874 pixels for the cover page Click on “my bubble” Click on “calendars” (in the 2nd row of menu items) Click on “Add a new calendar” (right-hand side of screen) Add a title and description (optional, but recommended) Add your cover image (When you click on the little down arrow, it will bring up a list of titles of all the images in your gallery, even the ones that may be “hidden” or “not for sale”.) Then just start adding images, one for each of the twelve months. If you aren’t quite finished but want to save it, use the “Hide” feature at the bottom of the page. Then you can make changes without anyone seeing it. When you are ready to publish, then change to “Allow Anyone to View This Work”. I hope this is helpful. I am certainly no expert at making tee shirts. I know there are others out there who are the real experts. So I’m just going to share a few helpful hints that came out of my struggles to get two tee designs uploaded on RB. Here’s what I did: Opened Photoshop Elements (or any other image editing program) and set up a new empty page. Set the dimensions to 2400 width x 3200 height with a transparent background. IMPORTANT NOTE: If the background is not transparent, it will not work! If you are one pixel off on the dimensions, it will not work! You cannot transpose the pixels either (NOT 3200 width x 2400 height) as it will not work! Transferred (copied) an image to the blank/transparent background. Added text to complete my design. Saved image as a .png file. NOTE: Other file extensions (such as .jpg) will not work! It must be a .png file! Uploaded to Redbubble with a default color and a default style. This will be the color and style (short-sleeve, long sleeve, etc.) you want to display on the page to showcase your design. NOTE: If you forget to choose the defaults, it will not work! Should I have a contest to see who can guess all the things I did wrong when I first tried to upload a tee shirt design? LOL! Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have problems or further questions. FOR THE COMPUTER SAAVY: Put quotation marks around the words you want to be the link. Then type a colon. Copy and paste the url address for the page, image, etc. that you want to link to. No spaces anywhere in the code. BEGINNER STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS: I would suggest printing these out to have next to the keyboard. Example 1 / For instance, to add a link to the Profile Page of a redbubble colleague. 1. Go to their Profile Page / 2. Highlight the URL for the page (the bit that starts http://...) / 3. Right-click and select Copy from the list that appears / 4. Go to the place where you want to add the link / 5. Type in a label and enclose it in double-quotes (e.g. “tomg” or any label you like) / 6. Add a full-colon directly after the second double-quote (make sure there are no spaces) / 7. If you want to add a real signature to your images (as in this example), follow the instructions below: 1. Write a neat, readable signature. / 2. Scan it as a picture (.jpg file) at 300 dpi (ppi) / 3. Save the signature file. The following directions are for Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 and Adobe Photoshop CS2 (these are the versions I have). Some minor adjustments may be necessary if you are using another version. The next step is to save your signature as a brush. / 1. Open the scanned signature file in Photoshop. / 2. Select the Marquis tool. / 3. Draw the marquis around your signature (keep it tight to the edges of the signature). / 4. Click on the Brush tool. In CS2: / – Click on the Edit pull-down menu and select Define Brush Preset… / – A dialogue box will open (Brush Name). / – Go to Instruction step 5. In Elements: / – Click on the Edit pull-down menu and select Define Brush from Selection… / – A dialogue box will open (Pattern Name). 5. Next, name your brush something like my signature. / 6. Click OK. The next step is to place your signature on an image. / 7. Open your image in PhotoShop. / 8. Select the Brush tool. / 9. Go to Brush Presets Picker. Scroll to your signature – it should be near the bottom. You may use the square bracket keys to make the signature brush appear larger (use ]) or smaller (use [). / 10. Go to the area where you want to place your signature and click once. / 11. Save the picture as your photo name_Signed or something like that so as not to destroy your original picture. Cautions: / #1 / Images in RB are often cropped to fit to standard sizes. The Card option is one that may crop some of your original artwork depending on the size of the image. Depending on where you have placed your signature, RB may crop some of it away. Always check, by pressing on the buy/preview button in the Public View. You will be able to see if the signature has been cropped. If it has been cropped, load your original shot back into PhotoShop and repeat the process of adding the signature, but in a better position. Re-save the image (overwrite your signed copy). In RB, go to Edit mode for the image and upload the modified image (Change the image), then press the Save Changes button at the bottom of the Edit page. #2 / Depending on where you place the signature, you may need to change the colour of the brush tool. Adding a slide show to redbubble Ok not really a slide show but it is very close, It’s an animated gif image. / You can see one My Bubblesite These images can also be linked / Doing this will require you to have software that can make an animated gif image. / And of coarse I know of a free software program that can be used and this tutorial will explain how to do this using this free software. The free software is called / unfreeze and you can Get it here / Once downloaded and installed on your / computer we are ready to go. The first step is to get the images you want to include in your slide show, I am going to use my redbubble images set in frames for my bubblesite homepage. Sign-in to your redbubble account Click “My Bubble” then “Art” find the image you want to include and click the “show public view” Now click the “buy/preview” button / Select the product format you want to use Card, Laminated print, etc.. Then save the image to your computer. Internet Explorer users “Right Click” the image and select “Save Picture As” / Firefox users “Right Click” and select “Save image as” / And choose a location on your PC where you can find it easily. / You can use as many images as you want, but remember you want them to visit your gallery so keep the number of images to a minimum. / I’m going to use 8 images for now. / You can re size your images if you like the Unfreeze software will resize your images to fit in a 375 pixels(high) X 360 pixels(wide) box but the software will not center the image. For those that want their images centered in the box, Use your photo software to edit the images / The software program (unfreeze) that I recommended above requires the images to be in gif format. Doing this in your photo software may be different than mine. But I will open the image in my photo software “Paint.net” and then click the “Save as” option and change the format (type) to gif ( Graphics Interchange Format).They will be saved in the same folder that I put the ones I downloaded from the bubble. Once the images are in the gif format. We are ready to create the animated gif (slideshow) Open the folder where your gif images are located Start “unfreeze” a small window will appear / Drag your images into the white window Then set the delay on the right, I used 60, Make sure the “Loop animation” box is checked Now click the “Make Animated Gif” button Give it a name and Click “Save” To make the images change slower add more than one of the same file The image that I created here was made using three copies of the same image,delay set to 90 / Example: drag and drop “image1.gif”,then do it again drag and drop “image1.gif “ This one has four of the same images and delay set to 60 Now the image can be uploaded to a web site, since Redbubble does not support this file type. You can use “Dropbox” / which is a free file store, share, sync software Get it Here it allows you to have 2 gig of file storage for free. Help your visitors find what they want faster. For keeping track of what images are in what group, I’ve found that the easiest way to do this is by Tagging the image with the group name. This tutorial will help you set up your own personal gallery, also known in RB-land as a bubblesite. If you are not sure what a bubblesite is, then use the link to take a look at my personal gallery of images known as Bucks Mountain Galleries. HINT: I always recommend that you print out tutorial instructions so that you don’t have to flip back and forth between screens. Now, let’s get started! SET UP YOUR SITE: “Click on “My Bubble” On the 2nd menu row, look to the far right and click on “Bubblesite” (2nd button from the right). The “Bubblesite Setup” page will appear. BUBBLESITE SETUP Site title: Type the name of your gallery Home Page Image: Click on the down arrow on the right side of the box and choose an image from the group of images you have uploaded to Redbubble. This will be a large image that will appear on your gallery home page. Choose one of your best images, one that will leave visitors wanting to see more. Home Page Content: This is the first page visitors will see. Type something that will catch their attention. Add a quote or write something about your photography business. You can also add links or an additional image. These are only suggestions, be creative and write what you think will be best as the first impression. About Page Content: A place to type something about yourself and add contact information such as an additional email address or web address. These are only suggestions, so be creative and write what you think will be best. Choose a site theme: You have three color choices for your gallery pages. Choose the one that best suits you. Black on White / White on Black / Grey on Biege IMPORTANT: At the bottom right side of the page, click “Save Changes”. MANAGE YOUR IMAGE GALLERY Make sure you saved the information in Step 1, Bubblesite setup. Now it is time to manage your image gallery. Go back to the top of the page and click on the blue underlined link “Manage the Gallery”. Your Library – Your published images are listed here. If you have images on Redbubble that are not for sale, then you will not be able to put them in the gallery. Only images for sale can be added to the gallery. NOTE: Right now only tee designs and images can be added to your gallery. Calendars cannot be added at this time. In the left hand column under Your Library, you can name your first gallery set. HINT: Give some thought to how you want your gallery to be arranged. At this time, RB does not give you the capability to re-arrange your gallery titles/folders after you are done. So you might want to write down your categories and decide the order you want them to appear before getting started. Click on the words, new set, in the box. We’ll use Landscapes as an example for the first gallery set/folder. Type the word, Landscapes (or whatever title you prefer). Click the button, “Create” ADD IMAGES TO YOUR FIRST GALLERY SET/FOLDER If you used landscapes, then go to “Your Library”, use the down arrow at the bottom right-hand side, and drag down until you see your first landscape image. Move your cursor over that image thumbnail. You should see a 4-arrow cross. Click and drag your image over the folder named “Lanscapes”. Release the mouse button and the image will be moved to the folder. When done, open the folder to check and see if the image is there. Repeat these steps for this folder and all the new folders that yourcreate. NOTE: There is a link just above the library images that will visually assist with the steps outlined above. Click on “Show Help”. When you are done, it’s time to see your gallery! Go back to the top of the page and click on the blue underlined link, “View Your Site”. If you are tired of rummaging through countless pages trying to feature a group member or an image that won a challenge and have so many more pages to go and your mouse hand is cramped. Try this method. NOTE: This only works for groups that you Host / Co-Host / Also be careful in doing this as it will have the reverse effect on a featured image. / It will remove it from the featured section if it is already featured. / Be sure to visit the groups “overview” page to make sure your handy work has included all the images you wanted to feature. To feature Challenge Images / 1.On your groups “overview” page there is a link to your “featured work” section right click the link and select (with Firefox)”copy link location” (with internet explorer “copy shortcut”) / Now you are ready to feature some images the easy way / 2.Go to the challenge page that shows the awesome challenge winners that are about to be featured and while holding the control (CTRL) key left click the lucky images doing this will open them in new tabs in your web browser / 3.Now the fun part Clicking one of the new tabs that were opened will take you to the image page drop a comment if you like while you are there. To feature it in the address bar highlight the web address all the way to the word “art” then press and hold the control (CTRL) key press “V” to paste the address you copied in step 1 / or you can right click the Highlighted text and select ‘paste’ from the pop up menu. / Here is an example / Original address (the part in bold will be replaced) / http://www.redbubble.com/people/envelope150/art/2934496-2-egret-dock / Now the new address to feature this image would be / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/groupnamehere/featured_works/2934496-2-egret-dock / 4. Have you noticed, that if you hover your mouse cursor over any image in RB a popup appears with the following information: Image Title by Artist’s name? Have you wondered how RB does this and also, how can you use this information? The good news is, it is not difficult and you can include any text message that you want. Have a look at the image below and move your mouse cursor over the image. / Did you see the popup? You can add any message you like to any of your images. I should stress that this will not work on the normal RB viewing pages (other than in your image description area), however, you can add hyperlinked images to your Profile page or you could include them in Journal entries or replies to comments If you want to know how to do it, follow the instructions below. It is a little complicated, but like all things, with a bit of practice, it will become easier. First, let’s look at the example. You need to look at my previous Journal entry Adding a frame around your pictures. This will give you the method for making the framed pictures. Now we need to add the Hyperlink to the framed pictures. The method is as follows: / It is best to create your links in the Notepad application on your PC. I need to explain it, because if I type it here exactly as you need to do, RedBubble will convert the link into a real Hyperlink in my Journal page. Type an exclamation mark (!) Then paste the URL for the framed picture directly after the exclamation mark (make sure you have no spaces). Now you will add your popup message – it needs to be enclosed in brackets. For instance, (Click here to be taken to the image page) Type another exclamation mark (!) Follow this with a full-colon (:) Next, in RedBubble, you need to go to the Public View of the picture you want to link to. Copy the URL (It is at the top of the screen and starts with http://) into your mouse buffer (highlight the URL, right-click your mouse and select Copy from the list that appears). Paste this URL directly after the full-colon (remember, NO spaces anywhere other than in your popup message text). In simple terms: The hyperlink element (the URL pointing to the picture) that you want to see on the page, and the bracketed popup message must be enclosed in a set of exclamation marks (!) At the end of this element, you need to type a full-colon (:) Next thing you need is the pointer (the URL of where you want to point – this can be a picture or a web page) Example (you would need to fill in the URL information, and remove all superfluous spaces): Picture example / ! URL of picture you want to see(Popup text)! : URL of picture you want to hyperlink to So, to recap: / – exclamation mark / – URL for the framed picture / – bracketed popup text / – exclamation mark / – full-colon / – URL for your final picture Once you have typed it all into Notepad, highlight all of the text and copy it to your mouse buffer. Paste the copied information into RB. That should be it. Make sure to check that it all worked. This example shows how to turn a framed picture into a hyperlink, but the method can be applied to any of the other types of pictures in RedBubble. Let me know if you have any problems.
