Every evening bunches of these Sandhill Cranes land before sunset. I’ve noticed that sometimes a certain group will fly in and get round of applause from the ones that have already landed. They point their beaks up and just cackle for about 5 minutes and then it seems they just dance around for a couple of minutes. Wouldn’t it be nice if our friends did that for us when we came in the door?

The pride of this mother just shows by the way she is looking over her young. These little ones are only about a week old, and they look so at peace and secure… The amount of joy this little family gave to people walking, jogging by, and just in the short time that I stood by and watched on…

see him up close / this bird, I watched for several minutes, and took the shots one after the other.. this was taken at our beautiful county park here in Fort Myers, Florida I also have a color version of this collage.. and I could add text or a song if you like. Lakes Park The Anhinga’s feathers are not waterproofed by oils like those of ducks, and can get waterlogged, causing the bird to become barely buoyant. However, this allows it to dive easily and search for fish under the water. It can stay down for significant periods. When necessary, the Anhinga will dry out its wings and feathers. It will perch for long periods with its wings spread to allow the drying process, as do cormorants. If it attempts to fly while its wings are wet, it has great difficulty getting off the water and takes off by flapping vigorously while ‘running’ on the water. Courtesy Wikipedia here Gaydar is a portmanteau of gay and radar and refers to the intuitive ability to assess someone’s sexual orientation as gay, bisexual, or straight. The function of gaydar relies on usually non-verbal sensory information and intuitions. These include the sensitivity to social behaviors and mannerisms; for instance, acknowledging flamboyant mannerisms, overtly rejecting traditional gender roles, a person’s occupation and grooming habits. The idea of gaydar is complicated by gay people not acting in a stereotypically “gay” fashion; also by metrosexual men (regardless of sexuality) who seem to have heightened aesthetic senses and exhibit a lifestyle, spending habits and concern for personal appearance close enough to the stereotype of a fashionable urban gay man. ABC News’ 20/20 reported that gaydar does exist but it may work better for gay people and those who pay attention to issues around sexual orientation because they have more invested in knowing if someone was or was not gay. This piece is about my innocence being shredded and torn apart due to my ignorance and being too trusting of certain individuals in my life who had no regard for my sweet loving nature and soul. It was too late when I figured it out; the damage had been done. I’ll never fully recover. Collage on base of layers and layers of old book pages. Torn printed tissue papers crinkled and wrinkled over the book pages then various ephemera and “found text”, hand-cut and adhered to the piece.
