It’s got that really lost feeling about it which is a quality in images that I really enjoy… Simplicity… If you look at the bottom right there’s actually 2 people entering the boat. I only noticed this after I took the shot.

I just wanted to share some really cool brush resources for those of you interested in adding some plugins to your Photoshop software. I have used some of them and they rock! All are freeware and some cite that you must give a link back to them in order to use them. The following is a comprehensive list of ALL of the websites where I have downloaded brushes from. Any of my pieces that feature a brush from one of these sets will be linked back to this journal for proper crediting. Native Installation Captured at one of my favorite places for photography, Garden Of The Gods, outside Colorado Springs, Colorado….when I saw this it just struck me as something that seemed to Native AMerican in nature, and perhaps that is what it is meant to resemble….as this place is considered sacred among Native Americans, and it kind of pays tribute to them and their culture with teh design elements. I really wanting something that worked with the surrounding so I examine this really close, shooting off about 50 shots, in different perspectives and composition, and ultimately settling on this one you see here. This was done at an art gallery called Art Garden in Okayama, Japan. An installation that was technically never installed. Performance art that was witnessed by no one so was it even performed? One could argue that neither ever took place. Good thing I was able to capture the evidence of its non-existence with my camera…. I had an opportunity to use the gallery space for some photos. Given the setting I wanted to create something that looked like a physical installation. This “structure” was drawn by me and my cohort and recorded by my camera. It is completely made of light and nothing else. It was gone the instant it was created. This image is straight from the camera. No photoshop was used nor any post editing of any kind was done. It was created using the light painting method. Numerous hand held flashes were strategically fired around the room to illuminate the space. A picture of the space during the day is visible here Camera: Canon EOS 40D / Exposure: 123 / Aperture: f/7.1 / Focal Length: 17 mm / ISO Speed: 100 This has to be one of my favorites art projects I have ever done… I had an A4 size printed of this and it looks incredible.

The Jewish Museum Berlin (Jüdisches Museum Berlin), in Berlin, Germany, covers two millennia of German Jewish history. The architect Daniel Libeskind created the museum in a radical, zigzag design, which earned the nickname “Blitz.”. Menashe Kadishman’s (מנשה קדישמן) contribution to the Jewish Museum Berlin is the installation titled Shalechet (Fallen Leaves) in the Memory Void, one of the empty spaces of the Libeskind Building. Over 10,000 open-mouthed faces coarsely cut from heavy, circular iron plates cover the floor. Kadishman’s installation, on loan from Dieter and Si Rosenkranz, powerfully compliments the spatial feel of the Voids. While these serve as an architectural expression of the irretrievable loss of the Jews murdered in Europe, Menashe Kadishman’s sculptures filling them evoke painful recollections of the innocent victims of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Born in 1932, Menashe Kadishman studied sculpture in Israel from 1947 to 1950. He continued his education in Great Britain at the St. Martin’s School of Art and the Slade School of Art in London (1959-1960). Today the artist lives and works in his native town of Tel Aviv. He has been awarded several prizes since the 1960s, among them first prize for sculpture at the Fifth Paris Biennial Art Festival (1967), the Sandberg Prize from the Israel Museum Jerusalem (1978), and the Mendel Pundik Foundation Prize for Israeli Art (1984). He represented Israel at the Venetian Biennial Art Festival in 1978. In the years since 1965, Kadishman’s art has been shown in numerous single and group exhibitions in Israel and far beyond, and has won international acclaim.
