The Absentee I guess that pretty much describes my state of being lately ….I apologize to each of you…..many have asked what’s going on??? Absolutely nothing……as you may or may not know, I retired from my full time position of Accountant as of 12/31/08…since then I have pretty much been occupied with setting up my photography business and greeting card store, as well as some local marketing……..it is very time consuming, but if I don’t spend this time taking care of these things, then I will truly be a starving photographer/artist…… I hope all of you will understand and know that it is nothing to do with you, but rather time being directed in a different direction…..I do miss the time I was spending here, but I do need to have an income other than a little bit of social security….. When I decided to take an early retirement, I found out that Uncle Sam takes an average of your last 30 years of work history to figure your Social Security income…..well since I stayed home for 15 of those years raising our three boys, my income is now cut in half…that hardly seems fair when you see us supporting so many people from other countries that come over our borders with no jobs and no intentions of working or supporting their families ….. Nonetheless, I chose an early retirement in order to pursue my photography fulltime and that is what I have been doing………thank you all for your gracious comments, favoriting and support of my work, but most of all thank you for the incredible friends I have made here . I am going to be here, but less visible, and I will do my best to drop you all a note now and again….my watchlist is out of control, and I know that I have missed so much….please don’t take it personally if I have not commented on your work lately…. Take care and keep up the awesome, gorgeous and so creative work that I have grown to love…..I will be thinking of you all even when I am not actively present…..You have all made such an incredible impact on me, and I am a better person for it…. I just wanted to say thank you all in advance for your incredible support of my work .......I can’t possible tell you in words what a difference you have all made in my life! I seen this piece of Art She titled Serenity … and the Switch and Gears just turned I said I want to work with her and carry a message of peace to the bubble for all people not just ones in recovery for we all need stillness and to listen to the voice of God my HIGHER POWER HE ROCKSSSS MY WORLD!!! Just saw that I’m a new challenge winner once again / This What Inspires you? challenge hosted by the Prize Challenges!! group is one that speaks volumes to me, and it seems that RB artists took notice of it. / The winning image Arlington West 2007, Santa Barbara, California portrays an ongoin display of the casualties in Iraq on East Beach in Santa Barbara, to protest against the war in Iraq, and increase the public awareness regarding the military and political fallout of staying there. Each Sunday morning thousands of crosses, as the number of the fallen, for that day, are placed in the sand and volunteers are providing the public with up to the moment information on casualties plus individual stories on the fallen. This image was taken at memorial day 2007 as a tribute and memorial and as a cry for peace… Yes, I am inspired by dedicated people and their efforts to restore peace and humanity back… Thank you all for your support, votes and appreciation, and to the Prize Challenges!! group hosts for this wonderful challenge . Alone with my thoughts in peace for a while…have gotten to thinking. I realised something today. Sadly I have resigned to the fact over the last five years that if I am going to get out further than my drive/street really then I have no choice..if I push and make it to the bottom I am in agony for days, and have to return with my wheelchair even though I made itSo through tears of realisation a few months ago I succombed to the fact I was going to have to relie on the use of wheelchair…. I felt like a failure, like I was too young for this, like a 70/80 year old trapped in a 37 year old body…. Today I look around in acceptance, grateful of seeing things differently, glad for less pain from help of medication and not overly exerting myself, glad of those I have around me and thankful for the calming charms and entity of mother nature herself. I have had to turn around some of the I can’ts into finding new I cans or new ways of doing things. So why am I writing this down? Because I feel blessed for being given opportunity to have the time to discover new horizons…am hoping one day one of these new opportunities will become a talent or similar that I can choose to work with as and when health allows to get me back working with the community again. I want to share with people the fact that creativity comes in many forms, folk liking different varieties for different reasons. By taking creativity in hand making cards, taking photographs and reading/writing poetry etc. I have found means of escapism and relaxation…taking both my mind and body to some distant release I cannot begin to explain. Something I would recommend anyone trying even if it be painting by numbers or colouring. Try new things, whether able bodied or not – you never know where they might lead. I’m blessed being in Pembrokeshire surrounded by beaches and mountains….everything mother nature gifted to us for us to appreciate not ignore. I hope someone will take my words and use them to their own advantage, be inspired and accept release for I believe all things happen to teach us something deep within and prepare us for other things. My message above all I guess is never give up; your thoughts and views on the world may change but it takes time and acceptance on your part. Have hope, have faith and live what you can before it is gone. Go back to childhood get down on levels forgotten and rediscover natures enchantment as you see ants working away, bees pollenating your garden or birds nesting. Write, just notes to begin…people watching is a great, fun way to start and to listen for the funny things we say everyday and record them….there you go, there has to be a book in you somewhere? My best wishes and kindest thoughts to all xx
