  • “From the ashes of fire shall be woken, / A light from the shadow shall spring…” Inspired by the words of J.R.R. Tolkien the art is intended to symbolize the strength each of us has within to endure and defeat experiences of life which bring us to that place of questioning everything we think we believe. Our beliefs aren’t really ours until we’ve been through such places and come out of them still believeing. Strength does not develop without conflict and it’s the greatest conflicts we face which hold the greatest potential power to propell us into places and gifts we’d otherwise might never have imagined to be possible.

  • One of my favorite quotes I live by…

  • Little girl smelling a white hibiscus.

  • I was watching the movie “The Ultimate Gift” listening to the character played by James Garner talking to his grandson when he said… ‘Learning is a gift… even if pain is your teacher”. As soon as the words had finished coming out of his mouth I honestly said out loud – YES!! Immediately I was blown away by the quote and I wrote it down and thought about its meaning for weeks. I’ve never felt so affected by a sentence before. Upon reflecting this quote I found quite confronting to realise that I spent my twenties doing everything to avoid and “run away” from my emotional pain.. Now in my 30s I’ve realised that pain was essential for me to be a more caring, less-judgemental and forgiving person. Pain seems to show us the truth in others… the truth that all people, no matter what’s on the outside… have a heart capable of breaking on the inside. It gives me great comfort that I can now view the grief of my brothers death as somewhat of a gift to me – rather than nothing but a loss FEATURED IN Prize Challenges GROUP / FEATURED IN Creative Inspirations / FEATURED IN YOU’RE ACCEPTED GROUP / FEATURED IN FIRST THINGS GROUP / FEATURED IN TYPOGRAPHY GROUP / FEATURED IN THE ART OF PAIN GROUP t-shirt available .

  • About ten years ago I wrote this song. It was pure and wonderful fantasy. However, it ended up being prophetic. And, six years ago when this man here found me; he made the dream come true. I have wanted, for some time now, to do a piece of art inspired by this song, and our love story. This piece is a compostite of a self-portrait Jamie took (of himself, obviously) and a self-portrait I took of me (yeah, obviously). After blending the two portraits together, I Ortonized the whole thing to give it a very intentional dreamy look. PLEASE, I urge you – implore you, even – to LISTEN to the song, here: The Dream, I think listening to it, with the music, will help you grasp the import of this piece better than just reading the lyrics alone will…but, I’ll post them, too…and you can read along as I sing. The Dream / Lyrics and Music by: / Autumn Dawn Leader / Copyright © Autumn Dawn Leader He sees her in the moonlight. / She dances in his dreams. / He feels her reaching out to him, / calling out his name, / calling, ‘Wake up, / I’m waiting for you, / Come to me, / I cry out to you, / Find me now, / I’m waiting for you to wake up / And make the dream come true. / Make the dream come true…’ Sweet kisses in the moonlight, / Embraces in the dark. / Together in this moment, / In each other’s arms, / She whispers, ‘Wake up, / I’m waiting for you, / Come to me, / I cry out to you, / Find me now, / I’m waiting for you to wake up / And make the dream come true.’ FEATURED in the group Models With A Difference

  • Another entry from my leather moleskin journal. This was a reflection on how we’ve all got so many untold stories. I don’t want to go to my grave without passing on my stories that are worth passing on especially if there’s a chance those stories could affect or help another in any positive way. The same goes for my whole family…. I don’t want them passing without me finding out their important untold stories. I still don’t know half as much as I’d like to know about my Grandfather’s prisoner of war days and he passed many a year ago. So that story is with my Dad now and once he’s gone the story will be too. Perhaps I’ll sit down with Dad soon and write it all down? And then there’s so many of my own personal stories that only I, myself know. One’s that Im’ just not ready to share with another yet… whether emotional, physical or spiritual I just can’t put them out there just yet. I am sure one day though I’ll probably be ready to share them. What untold stories do you have that you’d like to make sure get passed on before you die?
