Self-portrait. This particular day i was feeling very insecure about my body…so much so that the jeans stayed on…but i wanted to get naked… (Sold group- sold a mounted print of this)
My daughter’s surgery was a complete success, but during the 5 1/2 hr wait, I was doing a lot of this…
I DID. IN COREL ~ ENHANCED IN PHOTOSHOP. TITLE EXPLAINS THE REST
A self-portrait within a self-portrait. The giant face was drawn freehand by me using white charcoal & white chalk pastel on 22×30” black paper. It is the self-portrait assignment I’ve been working on for my drawing class, it’s not quite finished, hence the imperfections, but I thought that fit nicely with the concept I was going for. The idea is that we sometimes see ourselves in a distorted manner; working on this drawing I’ve noticed certain details and flaws on my face that I’ve never fully observed before because I’ve never had to study and look at my face for such long periods of time. / Through our distorted self-perceptions, we often feel the need to recreate or modify ourselves to be the way we want to be both inside and outside. Savannah, Georgia, USA. / Feb. 3, 2009.
This is a piece done for my photography final, “Fragmented Self Image”. This will be the first image in a series of 20 images. I know this image is a bit awkward, but that is part of the idea, as I wanted to instil the sense of discomfort or insecurity for the viewer.

This was written in July of this year, right before meeting the love of my life for the very first time. More of this to come. ;) / BUT, I wrote this on the plane on the way to meet him (we had met, of course, within words many O’ many a time – novels and novels of words!) but never in person; a very nervous occation, indeed, as you may imagine! / anyway…I am very insecure, and question myself constantly – as in “Why would anyone feel this way about me?” that feeling is so wrapped up in my past, at times, it is like a vice-grip, unable to untangle itself… As for “him”...the rest, as they say, was history (like I said, more of this to come soon)... / today is a rainy day here…hence the miriad of posted poetry. Hope nobody minds. :)
