I love hornets, I don’t like being around them but I’ve always thought that there are much worse jobs if you have to be reincarnated as an insect. / Nobody messes with a hornet. I was thinking of the Book of Kells when I got the idea for this. I worked for about a month burying small details in it so it’d be a decent conversation piece. 100% from scratch in 3DsMax and PS Add theyellowfury to your watchlist / Image copyright © 2008 Simon Deevy. The fritillaries and other butterflies and I got to be great friends during the warm weather last year. A wonderful benefit of all the hard work in the garden is not only pretty flowers, but the guests they entice to visit!! I took this sometime in the summer in my bathroom. There was a giant spiderweb on the window so I sprayed it with water… most of it ended up on the window which is the bokeh you seen in the background. Enjoy!

Acrylic On Canvas Phoebe is the baby of the trio. She’s a patchwork bunny doll with a thing for hats and caps, she is never seen without them. She wears an earring on her left ear and thinks she must be the funkiest patchwork bunny around. Her fashion theme for this summer is Watermelon :D / / You can view and buy my other “Phoebe’s Summer” creations at my Zazzle Gallery:
There’s a farmer down the road from where I live who sells fresh produce and plants fields of sunflower seeds just for his customers’ viewing enjoyment. I visited his fields recently and had a joyous time snapping the sunflowers. A painted lady butterfly landed on this one and rested a while as I clicked away.
Beautiful grasshopper enjoying on the mountain field near Galicnik, Republic of Macedonia…

Best Viewed Full Size One of the things I like best about this image is the play of shadows cast from the taller flowers onto the foreground black-eyed-susans and tiny butterfly. Image taken August 16, 2008 with the Nikon D40x, using the 70-300mm VR Nikon lens. Shutter at 400, aperture f/9.0 (hand held), exposure -.33, and iso at 200.
