  • This was taken on my front deck early in the morning with heavy fog leaving dew on a cobweb.

  • This was taken on a early foggy morning with heavy dew on a cobweb.

  • This yellow flower crab spider sits motionless on yellow flowers and then surprises it’s prey. Here, a helpless bee is easy pickens . The yellow flower crab spider blends in seemlessly in yellow flowers, and is practically invisible to the naked eye. I checked in on this guy all day. He sat patiently for 12 hours, until the moment was just right. He uses no webs-just camouflage and precision timing! / Nature is amazing! (Windsor, CT.)

  • I was exploring an abandoned farmhouse and I came across this web on the front porch. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / The Tragic History Behind These Shots / / More In This Series / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /

  • If you don’t already know, I have this weird (at least I’m told) Obsession with arachnids. I think they are one of the most beautiful and amazing creatures. I have been trying and trying to get a good shot of one, but since I don’t have a macro lense yet, it’s been difficult. I used my 4x zoom filters, which usually turn out blurry, but this one turned out great, in my opinion. And the fact that I caught this lovely lady on a white background, with the shadow she cast! What luck! Let me tell you, she did NOT want to pose for me. I had to keep nudging her to get out of the ball she formed. After this shot she just froze for well over an hour. Poor thing, I scared to death! I believe this gal is a “Barn Spider” ie. Araneus cavaticus / I think this makes such a cool looking card! LOL

  • I WAS THINKING ABOUT SPIDERS TODAY, SITTING IN PEACE HAVING A BITE TO EAT. WEIRD HUH? / / KEEP TRACK OF YOUR DINING EXPERIENCE WITH THIS UNIQUE WATCH FOR ONLY $12.99! /

  • The Location: / A very tight, isolated corner at the rear of my home in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. The Subject: / Seemingly suspended in mid-air this marvellous specimen of a female Deinopis subrufa (Net Casting Spider) was all set up with her net for a night’s hunting when I found her just before sunset on a very grey, damp summer day. / The spider’s location and orientation made it extremely difficult for me to make a good shot but with some patience, perseverance and experimentation using the fence post to brace the camera, I finally made a couple of shots for my collection. / The shot was made looking down at an angle with the camera rotated to the portrait format so as to end up with the subject’s orientation in the shot.. / The ambient light reflecting back from the white fence post gave the subject a beautiful modelling light. The Making of Deinopis subrufa (Net Casting Spider) #3: / Fuji S9600: Macro mode, Manual settings of f/3.6 @ 1/50sec, Manual focus, ISO80, Hand held. / Lightroom 1.1 & Photoshop CS3. • This little jumping spider is a female Green Jumping Spider (Mopsus mormon). These hunt in gardens, in low bushes, and like most insects. Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Canon 5D Mk II, 65mm, 5x.. Available large, and best appreciated large!

  • My earlier in the summer find of that very cool white/transparent flower crab spider that everyone loved so much even when creeped out had babies!! Or at least had ONE baby that I found today on the last rose of the season!! I know that it isn’t the same one because it is smaller and the red pattern on it’s back is lighter. I must admit it scared the living $x%x* out of me as I was reaching to hold the rose still for a few closeup and he crawled out on the petal right in front of my nose! I am just glad that he hung on when I let the branch go!! LOL Gave me a chance to catch my breath before the shoot started:) Loving the new Canon 500D and my new Sigma 70mm EX DG Macro lens!! / Taken in Airdrie, Alberta Canada Sept 14th at 6:15pm MST Featured in: Super Macro Photography and Extreme Closeups and In The Pink /
