  • Newtown the Brave is a Teeshirt for all people who love living in the inner city of Sydney or indeed the innercity of anywhere. The goths and the schoolies and the grannies and the punks and the professionals who all live in the wonderful suburb of Newtown in Sydney. Oi Newtown rules OK. If anyone wants one of these tees with the name of their own town on it then just bmail me and it shall be done. . /

  • The story behind the lady in the image. I was approached by this lady in Elizabeth St, Brisbane. She saw me attempting some street grabs and asked if I would take her photo. She also went on to tell me that this Target bag was her most faved possesion as since her brother moved up north, she had no one. Her brother now lives beside a Target shop and so when she gets lonely she just looks at her bag and it reminds her of him. / When I look at this image, I often wonder how she is doing.

  • another ledgendary Newtown mural on the side of a terrace house. A comment on contemporary culture and a vibrant bit of street art. Sadly this mural while still on the wall has been built out and is no longer visible. Lucky I’ve got the photo’s hey….

  • A lone Dandelion peeks out from the ruins of an old neighbourhood. Eastside, Birmingham.

  • literally…..well ok maybe metaphorically as well….. I had a studio in the building on the right of your screen for nearly four years and it was a great studio in a complex of some dozens of other artists….. but it was located in the utter bowels of the inner city…. in the back of the industial estates and railway lines…. leaving there late at night was spooky to say the least …... here I’ve taken a quick snap out the window of the car as I left very very late one night….. this is the studio where I obsessed about Antarctica and this year past I achieved that goal… exactly this time last year I was in there in the frozen fairyland as an artist….. now I have a new goal….. wish me luck…..:)

  • this is the first in the next small series of work from way back when….I have also got this in my portfolio as a handcoloured image here / . / . /

  • the next in my current small series of old black and white analouge images from a long long time ago…... / . / . / . /

  • the last in this small series of black and white analouge images from a long time ago… the three images together formed the basis of a large five part exhibition a l had way back then…. the series was later bought by the Art Gallery of SA and exhitited along side works by Anslem Keifer….. this image also appears elsewhere in my portfolio as a handcoloured image…. / . / . /

  • a long time ago I made a video clip for a band called Severed Heads for a dance track called Dead Eyes Open… this quickly became a cult classic dance track hit type thing in the inner city dark at that time…. reflecting back on that time I thought I might post some out takes from the making of the original clip…. it was a very very cheap affair let me tell you… borrowed cameras from art school and a bunch of inner city punkgothgroovers getting pissed on the fabulous punch we provided to them … just to get them in the mood of course….. then bring on the music and let it rip…. back in the days that’s all you had to do….. cameras punch and music a bit of heavy make up and make a classic clip in one day…. couldn’t even imagine doing that now…. oh and silk screen a bunch of gear with some rocking skulls…. that was the ‘look’ back then…. / . / . / . /

  • the next image in my current little series of ancient analouge images from way back when… these image are out takes from a video I made for a band called Severed Heads a very long time ago….. / . / . / . /

  • the next image in my series of out takes from a video I made a long time ago for a group called Severed Heads….. / . / . / . /

  • another out take from a series shots done while making a video clip for a band called Severed Heads back back back in the eigthies …. a study of some of the performers…. don’t see make up like this anymore…. which is probably a good thing…. :) / . / . / . /

  • the last of this particular set of ancient analouge images from a video shoot I was involved in a very long time ago…. / . / . / . /

  • I haven’t posted any pictures for a week or so as I’ve been building a website…. more on that later…. and setting up a new business…. more on that later and all….. but just of late I seem to have flushed a few die hard Severed Heads fans out of the under growth….. Tom is and was a difficult and totally brilliant eccentric musican and for a time there way back when… we worked together… at a place called Art Unit in Alexandria in Sydney….so the next couple of photo’s are for those people out there who remember what it was like….. and I’ll give you a clue…. it wasn’t very cute…... / . / .

  • a candid shot of the girls around the bar at a rage of a gig …. most likely featureing Tom Ellard and the Severed Heads at the legendary Art Unit in the bowels of Sydney back in the early eighties….. my sister at the bar and a couple of girls looking a bit like bunnies caught in the headlights…. hey most of what I can remember of the eightes where a bit like that…. oh well …. it was a way cool time and a way cool place to be….. I think…. from what I can remember….. lucky I took a few snaps hey….. :) / . / . /
