  • Yes, before you say it … strange! :-) As of July 2009, this painting has had 5,048 viewings and has been favourited 79 times and had 194 comments, so I guess someone out there likes it. Many thanks for your enthusiasm. To be candid though, I’ll never cease to be amazed at its reception, as I didn’t spend too much time on it and even kept it out of my portfolio for ages as I thought it was sub-standard. PLEASE NOTE – AS THE PROPORTIONS OF THIS ARE NOT IN LINE WITH THE PRINTING REQUIREMENTS, IT IS NO LONGER FOR SALE FEATURED BY SURREALISM GROUP – 28th July 2008 FEATURED BY YOU’RE ACCEPTED GROUP – 11th November 2008 FEATURED BY BRITISH PAINTERS GROUP – 26th June 2009 FEATURED BY UNIVERSAL INNOVATION GROUP – 3rd August 2009 I continued this theme and did two more paintings: /

  • Angler fish really are quite remarkable creatures! They live in the deep deep sea, further down than the light can reach, so to lure their prey in total darkness, they have rigged up a system of light emitting devices. They are not turned on here (as he is in the light, and they use up a lot of power so he only turns them on when he is hungry). Watercolour, chalk pastel, ink, conte on canvas.

  • My first piece finished in 09! Another octobeast from my series – here’s another one Watercolour, chalk pastel, ink, conte, metallic leaf on canvas. / He has golden suckers!

  • / / So I was at a sushi restaurant with my friend, and she said ‘ostrich tentacle’ rather than octopus tentacle. A curious beast that just had to be painted. Ostriches are cool – sort of snooty and silly looking at the same time. / I liked painting his funny feets. Watercolour, chalk pastel, ink, conte on canvas, 30cm x 23cm. / / / /

  • I just uploaded this new scan from my work!! I just completed this mixed media piece. The image size is 14×18 inches. I used archival ink and derwent graphitint watercolor pencils. This is drawn on illustration board and took many hours. I completed the border over a year ago and could not decide what I wanted to put in the middle. I was originally going to call this drawing “If I Could Help Design An Antelope” but as I finished it I decided that it had an old world feeling to it and the name “Paradise” seemed to fit. you will not see this species anywhere as I dreamed it up:) Any proceeds from the sale of prints and cards from RB will be donated to The Philadelphis Mission. You may view their contact info. on my front page. Thanks for looking!! You can also purchase this design on authentic postage stamps at www.zazzle.com/catherinehowell
