This piece was constructed with many layers of different papers, illustration boards and original stencils. Acrylic paint is used around and within the figure. The predominant fetal figure was produced with newspapers, and was also drawn over with many layers of interesting atomic and geometric designs with marker and inks. It was created in 2006. /

This work was created with a variety of mediums on a laminated lithograph. I sprayed the pre-existing frame, and selectively prime with gesso the landscape lithograph. The I turned the work upside down, and began painting in layers of color. Upon bringing the spatial areas to a greater definition of texture and value, I used some inks to add line work, and reflective surfaces. I then glued some pieces of my old dreadlocks to the central figure, and added more layers of acrylic paints. I used some gold acrylic paint in selective areas, and some areas retain the original lithograph image of a landscape. I really enjoy the loose, painted layers of color, and the exposed areas of gessoed surfaces. I also wanted to convey echoing line qualities in the veins and the bare trees. Please feel free to ask any further questions pertaining to concepts or materials that were used. The image is best represented on a large scale viewing, The dimensions of the piece are 36in. X 24in. It was initiated in 2007 and completed in 2008.

I painted this several years ago for an ex. Now that we’re broken up I kind of wish I had it back….

Watching for birds, mice, anything that moves. Other cats who come visit but quietly leave… witha message perhaps? Sometimes watching for their person to come home. My Kiki was 21 years old when she left me. She was a gift from a friend who rescued her from a breeder who wasn’t happy with her Persian/Manx cross and was going to drown the litter. As it turned out, Kiki was a godsend because my husband died the next week. She let others pet her and take care of her, but when I was home, she was my little shadow. All of 6-8 pounds throughout her adult life. Always loving me, always there. I thought I still had my ink wash watercolor of her, but I haven’t found it. I recreated this in Art Rage and Photoshop from the fractal I showed before. The experiment of the multiple programs made for an interesting result. Digital art never stops amazing me with what we can do. My homage to my dear friend who has been gone almost two years, but never forgotten and always appreciated.
