This is the censored version as i was unsure as to the parameters of Redbubble’s ‘inappropriate content’ policy, im still not sure if this version should be deemed ‘appropriate’ but it’s part of the series so hopefully im safe! a beautiful song about the beach at Byron, really worth a listen on utube / Forgotten Beach (Byron Bay) – Robert James / Bay Watch / Beach Series / Karin Taylor / Mixed Media ink pastel acrylic charcoal….plus a lot of gesso :) / I sketched this girl at the The Pass, Byron Bay… / a pretty famous beach, i live close to this beach… / it’s one of the most beautiful places on earth… In my teenage years, everything we did involved the beach, all the fun we had, all the mischief we got up to, from midnight swims, to campfires…..that was our escape…..the first place I went camping on a sorta freedom trip when i was 15 with my two best girls Marve and Prawn…..we were the best friends ever….their we played amongst the surf, got bronzed and enjoyed the attention of the local surfer boys…ahhh memories…. that was one of the best, i have the greatest fondness for all things surrounding the beach, and this song about Byron Bay beach just says it all for me… i hope you like it…. Dolly is a commissioned illustration and a potential tattoo! From Wikipedia: / “Dolly Dimples” is a traditional name for large ladies who once made their living with freak shows at circuses and carnivals. The most famous “Dolly Dimples” was Celesta Geyer, who was billed as “The World’s Prettiest Fat Girl” and “The World’s Most Beautiful Fat Lady”. She sported dimples an inch deep at each elbow. About her diet / After surviving a near fatal heart attack in 1950, Dolly followed a strict 800 calorie per day diet and in little more than a year she reduced her weight to 112 pounds, maintaining the loss for the rest of her life. She regained her health and became an avid advocate of dieting and exercise. Dolly’s weight loss was recognised as a world record by the Guinness Book of World Records. / I guess I feel sort of betrayed by “Dolly”, she was so gorgeous as a sideshow fat lady!
