  • A huge metal vice sits rusting on one of the work benches at this abandoned oil rig plant. Hopefully the cupboards and benches were kept in better repair when this place was open.

  • A deserted kitchen looks useless and empty now, just dirt and the odd hard hat laying about now, no signs of food.

  • A few empty gas cannisters lay on the floor here, amongst other rubbish and detritus laying about this abandoned oil rig plant.

  • This digger will probably sit here now till it either rusts and crumbles or is cut up and sold for scrap.

  • I imagine that this used to be rain shelter for some kind of stone or sand at this quarry, but it wouldn’t provide much shelter now in its current state.

  • Just before leaving this beautiful old digger i had to have a bit more climb on it, get a few pics of the up close and personal on it, such as this clutch plate in the engine.

  • Whilst i was up to take some pics of the engine, i had to have a quick look down along the arm of the thing. The bucket is missing as you see, though i did find it later right at the other side of the quarry about a quarter mile away.

  • As i suspected, i dont think this engine will be doing many RPM in the near future, most of the parts on it are already rusted and beyond repair.

  • Looking down from the sorter you can see that most of the conveyor track has gone now and the belt lays strewn about in several pieces.

  • Frank Gehry’s Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles, California. detail… I have four more images similar to this one if interested in a series. If purchased in LA I can sign them. Each image has a limited release of 50.

  • At this old factory, there must have been some machines that were quite tall and went through several floors as all that remains now is big expansive gaps where machines used to be.

  • Stairs between floors now lay taped off with safety tape, reminding people that its no longer a wise idea to go up them. That didnt stop me though…

  • This is the internal gearing for the miners cage at an abandoned mine in Scotland. As you can see, the internals of this machine were kept in tip top condition to ensure that they would safely and reliably extract the miners from the shaft each and every time.

  • Just like old gauges, odl switch gear like this is pretty much guaranteed to get me snapping away as well. They simply dont make them like this any more!

  • The rusty rollers of an abandoned food factory in England, where they used to make food stuffs. I couldnt fancy eating anything that came off these lines now though.

  • A warning sign about workers not entering the potchers, though if anyone needs to be warned not to enter something with boiling water and chemicals then perhaps they shouldn’t be in a place like this.

  • A paper roller machine at this abandoned paper mill.

  • Darling Harbour / Pyrmont Sydney

  • Two phones in one of the control rooms, presumably the second was a permanent circuit emergency phone, as it has no way to dial a number.

  • Part of the switch gear of this abandoned power station, this trip gear console would be used for monitoring throughput of voltage and emergency shutdown if there was a problem.

  • These dials, repeating over and over, were just begging for a nice wee depth of field shot, so i couldnt let them down!

  • This wee little oil tanker was abandoned at the side of the building, presumably once used for keeping everything lubed up on the site.

  • This is one of the hooks that would drag the animal through the wash pit at this abandoned slaughter house.

  • Looking down into the wash troughs from the pulley that would lift the animals out at the end.
