  • To me this is an exciting industrial landscape where all the elements and colour work in harmony with each other. I find these places full of artisitc quality and have a real fascination in capturing these moments and re-presenting them in an aesthetic way.

  • Took this on Stockton Bight, a long series of sand dunes that stretch from Anna Bay to Newcastle. These traps were placed to protect Williamtown air base (I believe) during World War II. 26km or so of these, 2m high concrete reinforced pyramids, and now all you can find is this small group, situated in a sand blow. Even they come and go depending on the wind. We took a tour from Anna bay, to see the tank traps, tin city and the wreck of the Sygma(?)   • HMS Warrior is a nineteenth century ironclad. She’s a beautiful vessel moored permanently within the Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth. I pass her every day on the way into work and she never fails to give me a little lift. When I was coming home and the sunset was looking so gorgeous, I couldn’t resist missing my ferry home for this shot!

  • Italians just love their concrete, and once in a while will throw a piece of modernism architecture in an industrial area. I had so much fun in the early morning veering off into these areas and exploring the barren streets. There is the quintessential red and white stripe pole in the far, far distance that smacks of industrialism in Italy.

  • Captured along my travels, a part of Victoria that just keeps growing. This is my kind of landscape, I feel at home amongst the concrete and steel. Used an 11 – 17mm with the perspective corrected.   • translation: Industrial Landcsape / To me this is just what I like about the Italian landscape, found this area tucked away off a local highway… I basically followed the spaceship like monolith, and it was all there in front of me… red shipping container and all… I’m just really fascinated by this… some may find boring I find it intriguing.

  • Oil. 80×80cm ‘Experts calculated that in the heyday there were up to 4,000 bottle kilns in Stoke-on-Trent with as many as 2,000 still standing in the 1950’s. The Clean Air Act of 1953 sounded the death-knell for the smoky, coal fired oven. There are 47 still standing today – all are listed buildings.’

  • These three images were shot on transparency film and the transparencies were manipulated further using a Daylab printer and Polaroid pull apart film where the film is pulled apart before a positive can be processed. The dyes remaining on the Polaroid film were then transferred by rolling onto blotting paper. This is a very unique technique as you will never be able to reproduce the same image twice. There will always be a different amount of dye remaining on the film each time you do it making each image different from the last. They are presented here as a series.
