The Tiwi Islands experience! – After showing us the traditional weaving of Panadanas leafs into beautiful baskets, and having morning tea, the Tiwi people got ready and transformed into their natural ancestors. This lady is the bush turkey. The wild animal they represent depends on the clan they came from and their surname. They then got together and performed a welcome dance, blessing us and keeping the bad spirits away.
Digger History; ANZAC (( ANZACS TO THE END))) Here is to a nation of young and old, lost and loved ones. Let our flag fly high and proud for them for they are never forgotten. To Our glorious men, women, and children, ANZACS old and new. Sons and daughters from the home we call Australia and New Zealand. Diggers and Mateship said it all. www.glennalderson.com Location: Hindmarsh Island Bridge linking the island to Goolwa / Date: April 2009 / Camera: Nikon D90 Bridge over troubled Water / Hindmarsh Island Bridge linking the island to Goolwa March 4, 2001 saw the official opening of the Hindmarsh Island Bridge linking the island to Goolwa. The bridge became a focus of national controversy when some landowners and a section of the local Indigenous people (the Ngarrindjeri) objected to its construction. It was alleged that the Ngarrindjeri objectors fabricated the cultural significance of the island (the Secret Women’s Business) in order to help fight the development. A latter Royal commission decided that the Secret Women’s Business was made up. Construction was blocked by the Keating Government but given the go-ahead by the Howard Government in 1996.
This piece is from the Nathan Labunski Ecuador collection. The native Ecuadorian dolls appear to be gossiping. These are puppets handcrafted by the indigenous people of Otavalo, Ecuador.
As we drove down from the summit of Haleakala on Skyline Drive, here we are entering the dense clouds and fog belt of the Kula Forest Reserve at 6200 feet elevation. This recreation area is 6,200 feet above sea level in the Kula Forest Reserve. Polipoli Springs is an upcountry park with towering trees and stunning views of the Maui lowlands and the neighboring islands of Lana’i and Kaho’olawe. Polipoli Springs is most notable for its mature forest of beautiful Redwood trees and other exotic indigenous Hawaiian trees such as Plum, Cypress, Sugi, towering Eucalyptus, O’hia and Ash. Extensive trail systems transverse the reserve. Thousands of feet above sea level, there are no mosquitoes in the area, but the temperatures can get quite cold. Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
A panoramic shot I took whilst bushwalking in the Heritage listed rainforest in Springbrook, New South Wales. This is Yugambeh country and you can feel the dreamtime of the ancient custodians flowing in the water as it seems to cascade from the blue sky into the beautiful lagoon below.

A woodland forget-me-not that comes in shades of pink and blue with a very hairy stem. It blooms in May and June and spread very much. The height is about 15-20 cm. It has anti-inflammatory properties. The name “myosotis” means “mouse-ear” and it is named so from the shape of its leaves that are different from the Myosotis Caucasica. I caught these ones in my backyard located at the border of a forest in Val ‘Or, Quebrc province.
This picture was taken by me during my relative’s wedding day (Rungus wedding). The two old Rungus women in picture are wearing a simple traditional Rungus’ costume (for woman). The Rungus people today, especially the elders are comfortably wearing traditional costume as they are not influenced by the modern world outside. Those two old women are actually my grandmas. They are both Bobolizan (shamans or priestess of the Rungus) who are responsible in maintaining the relationship between the Rungus people with the nature and the astral world in their traditional belief system (Lzabus).
