A mother with her son in a Bishnoi community in India’s Great Thar Desert. The community was located about 50km outside of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, close to the Pakistani border. The woman and her family were very kind, and invited us to stay in their village.

9×12 watercolor pencil and pastel on colorfix paper Shakti is the sanskrit word for the Divine feminine and the cosmic primordial force that moves the Universe. It is also the transformative spiritual power radiated by a master or being of Light. The Hindu goddesses Parvati, Lakshmi, and Saraswati are the triple goddess embodiments of this shakti energy. The goddess in this piece is a little bit of all three of those goddesses. / I am feeling that creative shakti energy today!!! / This was a result of me playing around with new techniques. I think I will play with this style some more!!

Gorgeous sunset over the Gulf Of Mexico, taken from the Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. The sun is setting on a new day, dedicated in memory of a good FRIEND. /
152 views on 12/01/09 This painting is acrylic on gallery wrapped stretched canvas. It is 11” w x 14” h. Kokopelli is one guy you can see in all the tourist spots and the art galleries all over New Mexico - especially Santa Fe. There are not only Kokopelli works of art, but there are post cards and key chains and jewelry and all sorts of things. / Actually Kokopelli is a really serious guy! / Kokopelli was one of the earliest spirit figures represented in the petroglyphs and cave art of the very early Native Americans - the very first Americans. He was believed to bring success with crops and also to bring good luck with the ladies. He was usually depicted playing a flute and was considered to be the patron of music. He is often depicted with a hump on his back —sometimes this is considered to be a deformity and sometimes a sack that he carries on his back. This painting was inspired by the ancient images of Kokopelli—but I added the dogs.

Conditions were far from good when I took this – in fact Betty was having kittens and cursing my hobby for all she was worth! But honestly, what right minded photographer could resist such a scene? And then the icing on the cake was the spray almost enveloping the big Western Gull and giving him a ghost like appearance. / We were at Cape Leeuwin, on the far south westerly corner of Western Australia about 440 kms from Perth, parked beside the water wheel on a gloriously rough and overcast day. The rock with the gulls was right in front of me and I was wondering whether it would be worth a photo because the light was Bad and it was drizzling. Suddenly the sun tried to break through and I was out of the car in a flash – wind or no wind, drizzle or no drizzle, this was my chance. There was no time to erect the tripod – I leaned back on the bonnet of the car and proceeded to fire away and it was only afterwards that I realised I had not given a thought to aperture or shutter settings. However I was on aperture priority so all was well. / How many of us, I wonder, do exactly the same in order to get that one magic photo? Most of us, I bet! / Camera was my Sony Alpha 350 dslr / 55-200 lens with cp filter / Aperture priority – f8. / hand held / As will be pretty obvious, I also did a bit of post processing to bring some contrast into what was an almost washed out sky and also to sharpen up the ocean slightly (I have never been one for “milky” looking waves)
