  • Season’s over. This was the last full flower in a pactch that had hundreds. Not perfect, yet resiliant in the November cold of Indiana.

  • Colored pencil drawing on blue fiber paper, no photoshop except to scale size and crop matte/border. / This piece is large and I wasn’t able to photograph evenly due to the type of pencils and paper used. My scanner is small. Anyone have tips on getting large drawings and paintings into a clean digital format?

  • Fall Creek Gorge Nature Preserve near Attica, Indiana Around the corner from the tributary stream, you immediately come to the “pothole” section of the gorge. The action of the water along this narrow stream bed has formed these small basins, nicknamed “potholes”. They range in size from 1 foot to more than 6 feet across and are as much as 4 – 5 feet deep. This was actually as far as I could get going up stream without literally going for a swim. With the air temp at 50 degrees F and the water even colder, I decided to take the high road along the cliff after taking a couple of shots here. • Fall Creek Gorge Nature Preserve near Attica, Indiana OK… So once I was able to drag myself away from the waterfall, I started walking down the river bed back toward the potholes. It was pretty flat for a while, although you really had to watch where you stepped as even in this area, there were places that went from being very shallow to well over the top of my boots very quickly. Needless to say, I didn’t leave dry!! After rounding a couple of bends in the river, I came back to the area above the potholes and found this section of the river bed that was carved out. This channel was about 2 feet deep.

  • Fall Creek Gorge Nature Preserve near Attica, Indiana This is a view of the potholes area looking downstream. The large rock cliff right in the center of this picture is right at the bottom of the path from the parking lot. However, as I still didn’t want to take a swim, I would have to go back to the waterfall to take the cliff top path back to my car.

  • An unaltered photo from an old cemetery, in the very actively haunted small town of Converse, Indiana. The night was clear, neither hot nor cold, no fog, no condensation.

  • Why he’s Lego Indy and not Lego Croc Hunter!

  • A sandhill crane in flight along with thousands of others. We went to Indiana to see the migration and they were flying everywhere at once and taking a decent shot was a challenge. • Sony a350 18-70mm lens at 18mm / Taken in French Lick, Indiana / The hotel, built in 1902, is a major feat of engineering. It has an immense covered steel and glass dome, 200 feet in diameter, which was the largest in the world when built. The hotel fell on hard times after the 1929 stock market crash and was owned by 2 colleges. / In 1992 Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana spent $140,000 to stabilize the hotel, matching a $70,000 contribution from an anonymous donor. The work included patching the roof, constructing scupper openings in parapets, installing tie rods, and shoring up the fourth through sixth floors on either side after a collapse. When a gambling license was awarded and a casino built in the area restoration resumed at the West Baden Springs Hotel in the summer of 2006. It reopened as a hotel in May 2007 for the first time since 1932, with 246 rooms/suites. The hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana.
