Even ‘though Incognita completely agreed with Inky that patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels… she just COULDN’T make herself nationalistic. “Oh well” she decided, “I’ll probably find some other way to cause trouble…”
At Miss Borgia Creed’s Academy for the Indigent Young sporting prowess was loudly acclaimed. Incognita never made any of the teams. Only in the library, a gloomy, dust-bedizened maze that no other student had been known to set foot in, could Cog forget the shame.

Someone once told Incognita that silence was the speech of angels. She immediately resolved to take up bagpipes, drums and violin. BTW More than half the world’s 6,000 languages will be gone by the end of the century . >
Now that Incognita and her staff have finally shifted every last thing in Museum of Dust, Cog can apply herself to deciding where everything will go and how everything will be displayed. Inky pretends he is dead. This tactic has often worked for his species in the past.

Studly frequently comments (to himself, naturally) that this simply reflects Cog’s belief that she IS the centre of the universe. He can’t imagine why she would need an imaginary friend when she has him.

Perhaps she was worrying unnecessarily, but Incognita was terribly afraid of losing Inky-Blinky. He is her friend, her confidante, her Minister of Defense. She would be lost without him. It wasn’t that Cog hasn’t TRIED to make new friends in the past… and perhaps it was just that she hasn’t found the right crowd. Other people are a mystery… In moments of self-doubt and uncertainty, Cog likes to turn to her favorite comedy poet, T.S Eliot… “What is hell? Hell is oneself, Hell is alone, the other figures in it Merely projections. There is nothing to escape from And nothing to escape to. One is always alone.” He always puts a smile back on her face.

...but she continued to stubbornly refuse to accept the reality. Studly wisely left her to it. The constellations partied on.
All that could be heard was the tiny grinding sound of dreams crumbling… off-set the sharp staccatos of hopes being dashed and the almost inaudible pitch of innocence being murdered.
Cog completely agreed with Inky that there was absolutely no need to see who it was.
“Well” Incognita thought to herself, “What else can they expect? It’s not my fault if no one tells me anything.” “Besides which, it was like that when I got here.” “Really.”

The Museum of Dust is completely, if inconstantly, surrounded by impenetrable forest. In places it comes right up to the building and scrapes and scratches on the windows. Wind and moonlight send monstrous shadows capering and cavorting across Cog’s bedroom wall. They seem to know all her secrets.
The problem with living in a universe of one’s own devising… is made evident when you consider that you are responsible for the contents thereof…
Many people have commented that they only see the ‘public’ Incognita, so here’s a glimpse of some of the private things that are important to her. Cog may not be a social butterfly, but her friends are the ceentre of her world. /
Just in case you’d like to drop by to view the collections at the Museum of Dust or merely to say ‘hello’, I have posted the most recent, inclusive and accurate map to Terra Incognita and its immediate environs.
But, as Studly observed smugly, albeit very very quietly, they were all from herself so what did she expect…
US$21.38–US$114.00
What, really, is the point of hide-and-seek, Studley often thinks to himself, if Cog is always going to hide in the same place.

(Re)introducing Museum of Dust’s Minister of Defense, weapons’ designer, sponge-cat wrangler and the closest thing that Incognita has to a confidante. She sometimes forgets that he is a collector in his own right.

Incognita’s approach to industrial relations leaves more than a little to be desired. She has no other relations… which is a relief, she says, because they would be nothing but trouble.
If she didn’t drink, she was too shy to say anything to anyone. If she did, those she talked to soon found reasons to be somewhere else. Thanks Mr Archimboldo for the animal and fish portrait figures…

Finally, Incognita had found a belief system that really worked for her. Perhaps it was an Xmas epiphany… but Studly thinks it more likely that it was something she ate…
