This is an ancient arch built by the Quechua speakers who inhabited the islands of lake Titicaca (Translated as ‘Rock Puma’) during the time of the Incas (13th-17th Centuries).
The Colca Canyon, Peru is the deepest canyon in the world, about twice as deep as the Grand Canyon. The Inca terraces seen here are still farmed by local people. /

High in mountains on a very wet misty morning, we floated around the Incan ruins at Machu Piccu. You can just see the mist in the backdrop, it threatened to hide everything for hours, but beautiful things like these flowers were easy to find. Peru, September 2005.
Water still flows to towns below the Andes some six centuries after they were built. This was in Ollantaytambo, Peru.
