... At least for me ! / This picture was taken in Pisaq near Cusco, Peru’ in 2006 ! / The ruins of Pisaq is about 20 miles from Cusco and like the more famous Machu Picchu was an important city during the Inca empire. / It sprawled across three mountains at the altitude of about 3600 mts, offering visitors spectacular views.
Hidden on top of a mountain in the jungle, Machu Picchu was rediscovered in 1911 by an American archaeologist. Nobody`s really sure what it was used for as there are no records of it in the Spanish conquistadors (which is of course in part what saved it from being destroyed). We got there on one of the first buses and were there for sunrise which was beautiful. We then spent most of the day hanging about and exploring the ruins.
Digital version of this stencil. The coat of arms depicts a Mexican golden eagle, perched upon a cactus, devouring a snake. The coat of arms of Mexico was inspired by an Aztec legend regarding the founding of Tenochtitlan. The Aztecs, then a nomadic tribe, were wandering throughout Mexico in search of a divine sign that would indicate the precise spot upon which they were to build their capital. Their god Huitzilopochtli had commanded them to find an eagle devouring a snake, perched atop a cactus that grew on a rock submerged in a lake. After two hundred years of wandering, they found the promised sign on a small island in the swampy Lake Texcoco. It was there they founded their new capital, Tenochtitlan.

The fractal was created with Apophysis then inserted into Photoshop and played with.. The time consuming part was deleting some parts of it so that a defined shape would be created in to the final product
Probably one of the most photographed places on the planet, but at least I struck lucky and managed to get 5 of the 11 resident llamas to stay put while I got some shots. Machu Picchu, Peru.

After viewing the display of Juanita (a mummified child sacrifice discovered in the crater of a volcano) at Arequipa’s Museo Santury, I found these steps just off the main courtyard. The museo is housed in an old colonial building in the central region near the plaza de armas, in Arequipa, Perú.
Like many girls i found this one paired with a baby alpaca with her mother selling their wares on the steep roadsides of the Colca Canyon in Peru, i enjoy the contrast between her stern distant expression and the mischief going on behind her back, which, moments later made her crack up with laughter.
The mysterious Machu Picchu, Peru, hiding behind the morning mist. I have this as a canvas on my own wall.
Machu Picchu, Peru, March 2009 BEST VIEWED LARGE This being such an iconic an often photographed image, I wanted to make sure it was my own interpretation, rather than just another postcard shot. This was taken very early on in the morning as the mist was rising from the valley. I put the shot through DxO optics to correct lens distortions and pull out some detail from the shadows. The shot was then processed using the Nic Silverefex Pro plugin for Photoshop. I started with a Holga filter making sure that the “structure” setting was quite high so that some of the detail in the buildings would not be lost.

This is my rather draconic take on the Mesoamerican deity of Quetzalcoatl, who is described as a “feathered serpent.” Mixed media on watercolor paper. 11×15”.
