It wasn’t that Cog hasn’t TRIED to make new friends in the past… and perhaps it was just that she hasn’t found the right crowd. Other people are a mystery… In moments of self-doubt and uncertainty, Cog likes to turn to her favorite comedy poet, T.S Eliot… “What is hell? Originally done as an inside joke over an Avion opinion article. The Avion is our school newspaper. A recent controversial opinion article was printed that called all guys at our college pigs and all guys should feel bad for expressing any interested in a female on campus. Basically I guess guys are not allowed to socialize with women in class or outside of class without it being creepy and rude. So no winking or flirting guys! lol.

What the F#@k; 2 PORTRATES made the top ten of the Bodyscape Avatar Challenge! not only can the moderators not control the content of the group or submissions to challenges the artists even the voters don’t seem to be able to read. What is wrong with you folks; there are lots of groups for nude imagaes why pollute a group that has a specific genre that is clearly defined in its front page? Didn’t any of you read this: / The photographic images that will be appropriate art for this group would be super tight crops of one physical trait that convey’s a message of a landscape or the lines of the body that could be interpreted as a landscape. / The photographic images should showcase the figure, lines, or body region as some kind of representation of a landscape. / Creative original shots of female and/or male form as artistic appreciation of that form in relationship to landscapes and natural figures would also fit in. / For a group of photograpers whoes pursuit requires disipline and an attention to detail, to say I’m disapointed in this group would be an understatement. I joined this specific group because of it’s narrow focus on a particular genre of nude photograhpy; it has become increasingly more fustrating to come to this group and not see images that are bodyscapes, never mind see them as fialists in a group challenge. This fustration continues when I try to explain to prospective models the type of image I want to create when the genre specific group is watered down with inappropriate material. Please give me a break, you will get lots of traffic for you nudes in the other groups, please pay attention to guidelines for submited work, it is why there are so many different separate groups. Help celebrate this diversity by posting your wonderful work only where it belongs.

since october of 2008. i have been doing more behind the scenes works, and alot of the images that came form these shoots i have considered “collaborative works” of earhart (www.redbubble.com/people/patrickearhart )and i (chappel) www.reedbubble.com/people/chappelphoto. / our combined site is www.redbubble.com/people/earhertchappel. today i racked my brain. and did some heavy thinking. i have always considered every shoot, that is an earhart chappel photo to be combined. today i paused, as some of the works on that site, besides sharing space. and equipment. have been 100% me. and now that a chapter is turning in my life, i feel the need to separate some of the works, i guess not so far as claiming them. but i would like to take a moment and state what i did when it came to them. as through them i have been able to explore so many new avenues. as i venture yet again into the unknown of “what next”. / i would like to state one thing totally upfront i am not going to be entering any of these photos into groups nor will i enter them in any challenges as that is what i do with them on the earhart chappel site (as well as i only vote there and there alone) yes again some of them only use the equipment as the collaborative part in them / such as / primal scream / the up in smoke series / iconic portrait / the fit and feel of old blue jeans series / the madonna stories / dark beauty / to name a few where i styled all aspects of the shoots (hair, make up, wardrobe, lights, concepts, edits and photography. for all of the above. for costume design i have done the following / the pride series / the mother earth series / butterfly, and sweat beauty / plastic series (cellophane for costume design) / de stressing plastic/ up. bag lady (with trash bags for costume design) make up and hair on all shoots for earhart chappel. including hair extensions and props for hair pieces. / and my works are featured for hair in the group hairstyles quite a bit / flatten / butterfly / to name two in the category of wardrobe again i have done on all earhart chappel shoots. / with my pin up style and my character pieces being featured in many groups / james bond 007 / alt / vintage and gorgeous i have won 1st place in the following challenges / james bonds 1st place “weakness”, with me on hair, make up and wardrobe. / the woman photographer i won 1st place with “ballet” photography and wardrobe / the alt group for the color pink 1st place with primal scream photography, make up , hair. / vintage and gorgeous red challenge with “pin me up”, on hair wardrobe,male up and edit. / mood group for glasses i won 1st with “vintage sting”, photography and style by chappel i am very pleased with how far i have come working with earhart. as i have been able to explore more of theme and mood in the all around style of the photograph. and as i sit here now i contemplate what next? / do i go for? / if i was in no way limited, what do i see my self doing (as this is kind of a dreamers view) / it would probably go to the Philippines and write, photograph and try to expose what saddens me most, and try my hardest to get the issues exposed to the media, to have the issues that i find so hard to comprehend be exposed, so others know this should not occur and try to change the society there to stop the cycle. (same with alot of my issues in society today that seem stricken out by society today, as their 15 second is not long enough, for some to get involved to stop the crisis, and let others know “the armed forces from america over seas in iraq, and the suicide rate, to really exposing policy and government in the 3rd world nations, yes that was if i was not limited. but i am so. / behind the camera / doing photography? / or what i have been able to do with earhart, in concept, wardrobe, design, make up and hair. / or do i just tuck it under the matt as a hobby? which way to turn…

With the posting of my last photo “Aftermath” I realized that there was something to be said for my “inappropriate” fascination. For years now I have had a fascination with courtesans, prostitutes, strippers, whores and basically women who do the “unthinkable”. For years I have ried to come to terms with that and to understand it and why it was so appealing and I have finally pinpointed it. I guess to me it is about power and defiance it is about rebellion and about acceptance of sexuality as a normal, beautiful, and delicious thing. Now mind you I understand that quite a large majority of women dont view these things as glamorous, beautiful or powerful. I am aware of the horrors of slave trading and such. I know many women are forced into this nightmare. What I speak of is prostitution and such the likes of Venetian courtesans, geishas and of course Catherine Deneuve in Belle Du Jour. So why such a fascination? Well as I said rebellion and a desire to destroy the oppressive social constructs by which we live and judge women and girls. Our views, especially American views of female sexuality are based on the archaic, medieval ides of puritanical priests and monks who demonized women as witches and as the devil incarnate. Do I have a problem with religion? Yes I do ! I do have issues with any and all philosophies that demean half the world’s population and make it mandatory to be subservient, asexual, beings under the threat of eternal damnation. I guess its the ultimate job security ploy. Demonize the basic biological instincts and then when all have those urges they will need the clergy to “save their souls”generation after generation. So here it is my very basic take on the subject, a subject I ponder alot. My art, my photos and my writing are all a sort of spiritual confession and an attempt to recapture and regrasp the real me, the natural, true to my heart and soul me. I do my best to challenge the authority, standards, and rules of the ones who dare judge me. I am no longer the girl who has been subjugated by archaic stupidity and made to feel less than human for who she is. I am glad to finally declare that I am proud of who I am . I am proud of my art, i am proud of my outlooks, my sexuality( and bisexuality), and the fact that I spend the time to think it all out and not let some robed man on a pulpit dictate to me that I should live a certain way and judge me for being what I am, simply a human being. Yesterday, upon learning that I had to pick up at 4 different places, I realized that in order to make all the pick up’s at least somewhat on time, that I would have to get an early start. So, I arrived at my first pick up at five in the morning. (I didn’t have to be there until 9:00 a.m.), this would give me enough time to make it to my second pick up 124 miles away. ( Now, mind you, if I had gone on schedule, that would be I would have from 9:00 a.m., to 11:00 a.m, to get loaded, and still drive the 124 miles.) So, as I am sitting at my customer, waiting for their shipping department to arrive, then for them to load the truck that was there ahead of me, my company night dispatcher informs me, that I can’t leave the shipper before my appointment time, as the customer fines the company I work for if the driver does that. Now, I know that I’m not a really bright person, but what company would fine another company, because their drivers picked up product before their appointment times? Did they forget that we have log books, and DOT regulations that we must abide by, so there are times that we try to load earlier so that we may make the run legally? This idiotic policy has been bugging me since. I cannot for the life of me figure out why they would penalize someone for being early. Better yet, why my company would agree to it. True one aspect of this customer is that we have a dedicated crew that deliver their products to dealers, and maybe it would apply to them. But why would they penalize a truck that is picking up pallets of various parts that will be sent to their various production plants. It would seem that they would like to have them picked up early, and delivered early. Well, maybe with the exception of inventory time. I guess I will never figure this one out. And I would never figure out why my company would agree to it.
