When I was preparing to shoot this nude series I knew I didn’t want to create images to stimulate the male libido. I was seeking a psychologically expressive female figure for myself. Some of the feminist literature that has influenced my thought in this area is a book by Linda Nochlin “Women, Art, And Power And Other Essays”. In this book she reaches an all time high in feminist rhetoric when she photographs a male nude holding a tray of banana’s held at knee height….!! So refreshing! / _______________ / This Image “Imprinted Woman”. Photo montage printed on Kinwashi. Three images montaged in Photoshop: Nude, Chinese calligraphy pattern, and cut radish (the vegetable) pattern. The final image was printed on an Inkaid prepped Kinwashi paper. 11’’ x 14”. The radish “paper” is very interesting; a small sheet about 6×8 inches of thinly sliced radish rounds pressed together into a translucent sheet. I found it at Hiromi Paper in Santa Monica http://www.hiromipaper.com/store/home.php.

This image is simple…yes I know..but that is why I like it…it isnt complicated, busy, or distracting…it is, to me, the quaint little images that are sometimes the most pleasing to look at…......I thought these were the cutest things …yes..I know they are paw prints in the concrete..but do you know how aggravated a work crew must have been when they poured a parking lot full of cement at an apartment complex and then a dog walks through the whole thing while it is still wet?....That has to be exasperating! Led alone for the poor dog…..he/she has cement on its feet!!! That must have been very aggravating and most likely very painful. Besides the nicely preserved pawprint itself is not only cute but it provides a nice contrast to the texture of the cement… The problem though…is that I could not come up with a suitable title…. I had thought about ‘sign here’ or ‘imprinted’ or something along the lines of um…paw prints..but I wanted the title for this one to be perfect…and I just cant come up with anything that completely suits me…soo…..I will let you all pick one…..help please? So far I like ‘Leaving your mark’ and ‘My way of saying hello’ but any suggestions would be great! I like ‘Crap! Theres a pebble in my fur..” as Well as ‘Sign Here’ I just cant decide..I guess when it feels right I will have found the perfect title. Thanks.. / Suni
