  • Immortality (or eternal life) is the concept of living in a physical or spiritual form for an infinite length of time. What form an unending or indefinitely-long human life would take, or whether the soul possesses immortality, has been the subject of much speculation, fantasy, and debate. / Since immortality is seen as a desire of humanity, themes involving immortality often explore the disadvantages as well as the advantages of such a trait. Sometimes immortality is used as a punishment, or a curse that might be intended to teach a lesson. / In some parts of popular culture, immortality is not all that it is made out to be, possibly causing insanity and/or significant emotional pain. Much of the time, these things only happen to mortals who gain immortality. Beings born with immortality (such as deities, demigods and races with “limited immortality”) are usually quite adjusted to their long lives, though some may feel sorrow at the passing of mortal friends, but they still continue on… Marble statue of the boxer Creugas, ca. 1800. by Antonio Canova (Italian, 1757–1822) / Photographed at the Vatican Museums, June, 2007

  • In Ode, Intimations of Immortality from Reflections of Early Childhood, William Wordswoth wrote: Though nothing can bring back the hour / Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower / We will grieve not, but rather find / Strength in what remains behind. I was reminded of those lines when I saw a single blade of grass that had gone to seed and was blooming deep in the woods. The tiny flowers were a sight to behold.

  • I saw this portrait in a restaurant in the Lower East Side of NYC near the mens restroom. It was much larger and I simply closed-in on the part I wanted to caputure. I loved the old, aged look of it and will always wonder about the fellow in the portrait from whence time has surely passed. Immortal Beloved is inspired by a great 1994 film about Ludwig von Beethoven. It’s the untold love story and goes further about the genius and the madness behind the man. The SOUNDTRACK is great, too…FYI. :)

  • My other body is an immortal robot. I came up with this on 29 March 2008. Googling “My other body is an immortal robot” came up with nothing. There’s a lot written about immortal robot bodies and how they’re the new rage. Religion can’t provide immortal robot bodies. Flying heads in bubbles are also becoming popular. The cost of preserving a head is much less than the entire body and at least you can keep your face. But with the immortal robot, after you die, your soul or spirit is digitized and your flesh body rots, but you don’t care, ‘cause having an immortal robot body is ultra cool and sexy. While you’re still on earth, your immortal robot body sits in storage ready for the fateful day. No, it doesn’t act like Dorian Gray, keeping you ageless and that kind of thing, but it does provide a great feeling of peace of mind. Order yours today!

  • Lady white goes to Kun Lun mountain to pick a magic mushroom to revive her husband who has died of shock. She is swooped upon by a large crane who protects the mushroom. The Crane is actually the immortal of the mountain. This picture is painted in watercolours and china white. I used Arche hot press watercolour paper.

  • ©2007-2008 Aimee Stewart, Foxfires – please see my CC Terms of Use before considering using this image for any personal or commercial use http://foxfires.deviantart.com/journal/15905899/ / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- There are so many familiar sayings out there about ‘Time’ as we know it. Time heals all wounds. Time flies when you’re having fun. Time stands still. Time waits for no one. If I could turn back the hands of Time. Frozen in Time. Timeless…. you get the idea. Well, I wanted to create a series that perhaps captured the essence of these things, in relation to human emotion. And so my Time series was born. I know in my heart what each of them means, but I did not name them anything specific, so that the viewer could make up their own mind as to the meaning of each piece. I think that is something unique to every individual. So…my heartfelt thanks for continuing to watch and support my artistic endeavors. It feeds the fire that burns and inspires. / Aimee

  • Ἥφαιστος: the god of technology, blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals, metallurgy, fire and volcanoes. To Hephaistos, Fumigation from Frankincense and Manna. Strong, mighty Hephaistos, bearing splendid light, unwearied fire, with flaming torrents bright : strong-handed, deathless, and of art divine, pure element, a portion of the world is thine : all-taming artist, all-diffusive power, ‘tis thine, supreme, all substance to devour : aither, sun, moon, and stars, light pure and clear, for these thy lucid parts [of fire] to men appear. To thee all dwellings, cities, tribes belong, diffused through mortal bodies, rich and strong. Hear, blessed power, to holy rites incline, and all propitious on the incense shine : suppress the rage of fire’s unwearied frame, and still preserve our nature’s vital flame. / Orphic Hymn 66 to Hephaestus (trans. Taylor) (Greek hymns C3rd B.C. to 2nd A.D.) Photo reference by armathor-stock More Olympians / / / /

  • Featured In Core Group / ©Angi Baker / SEE & VIEW MUSIC HERE / This is another collaboration by myself and petmagent that I did, I hope you enjoy. / How it was done: Using Photoshop I used petmagnets sky shot and also the model shot, I first took the sky shot and added a flood filter and then I cut some of the models shot out and then layered it onto the sky shot, bringing back the opacity on the model to make a blend… I’m so tired of being here / Suppressed by all my childish fears / And if you have to leave / I wish that you would just leave / Your presence still lingers here / And it won’t leave me alone These wounds won’t seem to heal / This pain is just too real / There’s just too much that time cannot erase When you cried I’d wipe away all of your tears / When you’d scream I’d fight away all of your fears / And I held your hand through all of these years / But you still have / All of me You used to captivate me / By your resonating light / Now I’m bound by the life you left behind / Your face it haunts / My once pleasant dreams / Your voice it chased away / All the sanity in me These wounds won’t seem to heal / This pain is just too real / There’s just too much that time cannot erase When you cried I’d wipe away all of your tears / When you’d scream I’d fight away all of your fears / And I held your hand through all of these years / But you still have / All of me I’ve tried so hard to tell myself that you’re gone / But though you’re still with me / I’ve been alone all along When you cried I’d wipe away all of your tears / When you’d scream I’d fight away all of your fears / And I held your hand through all of these years / But you still have / All of me / Inspired By: Evanescence

  • Another of the Noosa Heads wonders, this rock refuses to give way to the power of the elements! How did this one piece of rock survive so long, while the rest of it crumpled away with time? Found this secret little “Pebble” beach tucked away in Noosa National Park, Noosa Heads, Queensland, Australia. As far as I can see, this beach is not named, and near impossible to get to. My 50D has a few marks on it getting here, but luckily my arms have taken most of the hits… Hehe! Canon 50D, 10mm, 16:9 crop. Available Large, and best viewed large!

  • Watercolor, gouache and pencil on board, / 11×14 / 2009 Model: Kambriel One of my latest passions is the symbolism of the peacock, and how it has been associated to immortality and renewal. His feathers were used as talismans and protection against evil spirits. In the Eastern traditions it has been seen as symbols of wisdom, benevolence, compassion and kind-heartedness. The “eye” in the peacock feather is associated to the pineal gland, making of it a sacred symbol. Through the development of the pineal gland one can awake the Kundalini and achieve understanding of the spiritual world.
