I have had some really interesting feedback from people about how to go about taking candid shots without upsetting the subject and whether it is best to ask first or not. (If you ask first is it still a candid shot?) It reminded me of a journal entry by another Redbubble member Gideon Swart( incidentally a great photographer – check him out) He asked whether there were ever times when a professional should not record the image. We have all seen images taken in famine areas or war zones. I have sometimes thought- would I be able to stand there looking through a lens and be separated from it? I don’t know if I could. Has anyone any thoughts? When would you not take a picture?
